There should be a small set screw under the cover where you feed the bottom bobbin at. if you turn it right, it will tighten, and should raise it.just remember how many times you have turned the screw.

SOURCE: I have a Singer Stylist 513 & I cannot get the feed dogs raised.

The model 513 Singer has two gears which operate the feeding mechanism. If one of these gears is broken, the machine will run except the feed dogs will not move. This is a very common problem with this model.

Even on the raised setting, the feed dogs won't move the thinnest summer weight fabric. Does anyone know how to fix this problem on the Singer Model #7426?

Could be the presser foot is not applying enough pressure to the feed dogs. Check your owner manual for instructions on increasing the presser foot pressure. Could also be that the feed dog height needs to be adjusted or their teeth are worn (do not run the machine without fabric between the presser foot and feed dogs).

Singer touch tronic 2000 feed dog will not advance fabric

Confirm the feed dogs are raised. Make sure the feed dog teeth, area under the needle plate and the bobbin area are clean of any debris, thread, or buildup. Some machines also have a presser foot pressure adjustment that increases the pressure the presser foot applies to the feed dogs. The feed dogs could be worn (never run the sewing machine without fabric between the presser foot & feed dogs).

Or, the machine has not had a thorough cleaning and oiling recently and the feed dogs are sticking from old oil.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

Would it be possible to do free motion sewing on my Singer Mon Ami II deluxe 390 machine? I don't have any sort of darning foot and the feed dogs can't drop.

You probably could but would need to address the darning foot and feed dog issues.

If you search, you may be able to find a darning foot for your machine or some sort of adapter. A darning foot is necessary because it is shorter in height which allows the fabric to be manipulated by hand. A regular presser foot presses the fabric against the feed dogs and needleplate which mechanically manipulates the fabric.

A lot of machines whose feed dogs do not drop came with a feed dog cover. Yours may or may not have. However, you may check into a Supreme Slider which is a slick sheet that covers the feed dogs and provides only a small hole for the needle. A lot of quilters love this sheet because it provides a slick surface that makes fabric manipulation easier.

Supreme Slider These are available in multiple sizes and from various vendors.

My singer 6180 feet dogs eats fabric at the top of feed dogs fabric gets stuck and does not feed the fabric why???

It sounds like the height of your feed dogs is the problem. I don't know which model you have, but of it's a plastic casing, you will need to take it in for service.

Adjust dog feed

The feed dogs in all Classic Bernina machines from the 130-180\'s will eventually come out of adjustment. This is due to the so-called cost savings modern manufacturing method of drilling holes in the machine frame parts and using thread forming screws instead of tapping or cutting cylindrical threads and the use of standard fasteners.

Regarding the screw fastener itself having a cylindrical screw form, the Bernina Classic machines used thread forming screws. Not necessarily a bad thing but in this case a dumb idea. Because these screws are not exactly cylindrical, they will not hold tight over time, hence loosening of the feed dog\'s height adjustment. You will need a T-10 Torx screw driver to make the adjustment.

Proceed by opening the bobbin cover door. You will find a rectangular opening to your upper right and will be able to see the screw head of the feed dog adjustment. With the feed dog in the upper most raised position, loosen the screw and lift the feed dog. Tighten the screw.

Check the height of the feed dog by rotating the hand-wheel in the direction of motion until the needle eye is flush with the needle plate. The feed dog teeth will also be flush in the normal position. If too high or too low, readjust to this height and, voila\'..... SewTechnical Home

Only a sewing tech can tell you:

If the feed dog height is too low, you have to get it serviced.

It the feed dogs are worn out, you can buy them and put them on yourself, but the repair shop would probably attach a new set while you wait with no labor charge.

I have a Bernina 135S and I managed to get a pin caught in between the plate and the feed dogs. I removed the plate, took out the pin and put it back together although now my feed dogs only move up and...

Check whether the feed dogs are coming above the stitch-plate at their maximum height. They should be about 1mm above the stitch plate when driving the material under the foot. I assume, by the way, that you haven't got the feed-dog drop button pushed-in at the handwheel end !!! If the feed-dogs are lower than 1mm, or not above the stitch-plate, the dog cam cam-foller will need adjustment. You have to remove the front cover to get at this and it should be done with a special gauge, so really its a service agent job, however, for what its worth;
With the front cover removed to gain access to the free-arm mechanism, look to the right of the hook race and on the end of the bottom drive shaft there are two black plastic cams . The right-hand one regulates the movement of the dogs front-to-back in association with the stitch-length stepper-motor, which drives the upper shaft in the free-arm. The left-hand cam regulates the up-down movement of the dogs and the cam follower (a piece of right-angled plated metal) has to be adjusted to determine the maximum height of the dogs aboe the stitch plate. The cam follower rubs against the top edge of the dog cam. There should be a small spring that pulls the cam follower down onto the cam at the front - if that's missing, the feed-dogs probably wont move quite correctly. To adjust the dog height, turn the hand-wheel until the feed-dogs are at their maximum height, unscrew the small screw in the left-hand side of the cam follower a couple of turns (dont, for goodness-sake, take it out !) - the feed-dogs should then pop-up above the stitch-plate. You now have a problem without the proper gauge ! You need to gently push the dogs back down against spring pressure until they are the correct height above the stitch-plate and tighten the screw on the cam follower. This should, at least, get over the problem - it wont be exactly right without the gauge and there is another adjustment that should be done to ensure the front and back of the dogs are at slightly different heights, but it should be good enough without this.

Good Luck !!!

I have a singer 2639 and I do not know how to raise the feed dogs. Please help.

Do you have a manual?
YOu can get a free manual from the Singer site.
Just type in 2639 and click on search.
On the next page choose the free download option.
Looking at diagrams in the manual, I think you have to remove the accessories case to gain access to the feed dog control.
Hope this helps!

fabric moves forward when machine run due to movement of feed dogs, feed dog has a teeth, when your foot presser goes down attached to fabrics the pressure hold the fabric between pressure foot and feed dogs that why when machine run feed dogs pushed fabric when recieved stitch.try to check adjustment of feed dogs it maybe set at rest or neutral.reset it to upward towards needle.check also bobbins thread if accumulation was build up under feed dogs.regard and have a nice day.
