Wire your sub in bridged mode (4 ohm mono)
+ to + on amplifier
- to - on amplifier
(using bridging terminals)

- Sorry - i gave specs on the Amplifier in the title - 401SYour 40idsm is as follows:
160W x 1 @ 4ohm
CLICK HERE for the manual
Hook it up the same way.
Looking at the amp terminals Left outside + to positive on sub
Right outside - to - on sub.
Sorry for the mixup.
(wiring diagram on page 17 of the manual)
