Either one of your controls is partly on damaged or the wires from it have melted together just under your cooktop

Testimonial: "I checked the wires. They seem to be ok. There are five switches (one for each burner). How do I know which one is damaged? There are two types of swiches. It makes it difficult to order which type of switch or which one is damaged"

SOURCE: clicking of the burner ignitors

I pulled out the electrical cord and then let the system dry out for about 8 hours. When I plugged in the oven again, the clicking had stopped.

Do you hear the spark ignitor trying got light the burner?

If not, then make sure there is not a residue or film of cleaning solution on the burner bases or burners themselves. It could be coincidental that the spark ignitor failed when she just happened to be cleaning the unit.

Perhaps you have a similar problem that I did. I have a Whirlpool gas range and some of the lighters were cracked and not working. They are $26 - $35 each, OUCH. On the two broken ones I replaced the ceramic with epoxy putty, and they are working. As it turn out, they are only female wire connectors wrapped with ceramic. In a hobby store I got some oven bake clay, an I plan to make my own replacements.

Piezo igniter won't quit

Possible stuck burner switch or failed spark module. Unplug unit. Remove wires from burner switches at module and plug back in. If it starts sparking, replace module. If it stops, then replace switch harness.

My GE Profile propane gas cook top was just installed yesterday. When I go to turn on one of the burners, all of the ignitors click. This can't possibly be normal. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, thats okay when you turn the knob voltage gets sent to the spark module, Then the module sparks all the burner igniter. And frame ignition only happens on the single burner of the knob you turned that sends gas to the burner associated with that knob.

Have a four burner gas GE Profile cooktop. How do

The igniter module is working fine. One of the switches (which are on each valve shaft) is stuck or shorted out. Pull a wire off each one at a time to determine which one is bad. Careful! 120 volts to each wire. Also, this can happen after you spill water into the valve area, if that sounds right, let it dry out.

GE Profile nat gas cooktop, Model No JGP636BEV3BB won't ignite

If you can hear the clicking sound but are not getting a spark then there is probably a short in the ignition system. Check for any loose wires on the ignition system. Make sure all the wires are properly seated. Make sure the spark module is properly grounded. As far as testing the spark module it should be generating a spark of course. The problem is that the average voltage for the spark module is 15,000 VDC so actual testing of that voltage can be difficult. Is the spark erratic?(should spark evenly). An erratic spark timing is a sign of a bad spark module. Is the spark slow? Check the polarity of the electrical plug. If it is clicking evenly then it is probably arcing somewhere inside the cooktop and you just need to find out where. Also be aware that if you get water into the cooktop that can cause possible grounding of the spark module or ignition system.

Ge profile gas range. one burner with no clicking and no ignition

You may have a bad burner switch. If you turn one of the other burner switches to make the spark modules spark look and see if the electrode is sparking at the bad burner. Most of the spark modules send a spark to all 4 burners when activated. If it sparks when another burner is activated open the valve and see if the burner will ignite. If so you probably have a bad burner switch.

I own a GE Profile gas cooktop model number JGP940SEK1SS. The igniter continues to make a sparking sound when it is plugged in . We have to unplug the the stove to make it stop.

It could be one of the burner switches shot it out or spark module malfunctions.
