Question about Canon PIXMA MX320 Color USB InkJet Printer

1 Answer

On 8/23/13, I started getting the "Line Busy" report when I tried faxing with my 4-year-old Pixma MX330; according to my Activity Report, everything was fine from at least 2011 to 7/14/13. Following your directions to someone with a "Line Busy" problem, I turned the Pixma around and discovered there was nothing connected to either the L input or the phone input. This makes sense since I haven't had a landline since at least early 2012; my cellphone is my only phone. I've also had a Netgear wireless router for a year or more. I hope you can help me.

I don't know if this matters, but the wireless router is not connected to the computer and looks like it never has been; at least there doesn't seem to be any unused cable floating around in the cable pile. Is there any specific thing that you think you might need to know?

I faxed something last week and lost the transmisson verification report, can it be re-printed? does my fax keep it in memory?

It's possible to print a Fax Activity report which would show both incoming and outgoing fax activity. To do this, do the following:
  1. Press Reports
  2. Use arrow keys < > to select 3. Fax Activity
  3. Press Set
If Fax Activity hasn't been set up, do the following:

Setting the Fax Activity Report Interval
You can set the machine to print activity reports at specific intervals (EVERY 50 FAXES, 6, 12, 24 hours, 2 or 7 days). If you set the interval to OFF, you can print the report by following the Steps in the next page.

  1. Press Menu, 2, 4, 2.
  2. Press or to choose an interval,
    and then press Set.
(If you choose 7 days, the LCD prompts you to choose a day at which to begin
    the 7-day countdown.)
I hope this enables you to recover your transmission report. Please post back with any questions or just to rate the solution. Thank you very much.

FAX back

Do you mean to get the paper document back out of the machine? If it doesn't feed out automatically, it may need to be repaired.
If you mean that you want confirmation that a fax was sent, you can turn on the TX (Transmit) REPORT. This will print out the first page of a fax sent successfully.

1. Press the Additional Functions button.
2. Use the arrows to select FAX SETTINGS. Press the Set button.
3. Use the arrows to select REPORT SETTINGS. Press Set.
4. Use the arrows to select TX REPORT. Press Set.
5. Use the arrows to select OUTPUT YES. Press Set.
6. Press the Stop/Reset button.

The machine will automatically print an Activity Report after every 20 faxes (sent or received). If you want an Activity Report at any time:

1. Press the Function button.
2. Press Report button (number 03 on the left side of the keypad)
3. Use the arrows to select ACTIVITY REPORT.
4. Press the Set button.
