Question about Alessi "RECORD" MEDIUM RED LEATHER WATCH

1 Answer

I have an Alessi Record watch with a red band that was purchased in 2007. I replaced the battery, but it still does not work. How can I get it fixed? I think it's a quartz movement.

My strap is broken and out of warranty. How much could I expect to pay for a new strap and battery for this watch?

A replacement watch band may cost as little as $10 and a replacement battery may cost as little as $2. However, if you do not have the right tools or do not feel comfortable performing this service by yourself, expect to pay $5-10 to have your battery changed by a professional. Band replacement may or may not be included in the band purchase price. Retail prices for most metal bands are higher than the price for lower-end leather bands, but premium leather bands may cost upwards of $20.
For the most reasonable price, try looking for a watch kiosk at your favorite shopping mall. Some Walmart jewelry counters will also provide this service. A full-service jewelery store should also be able to provide this service, though at a higher price.

WE NEED A NEW WATCH BAND FOR OUR F187GWBS NOT SURE WERE TO BUY ONE. WARRANTY COMPANY OUT OF BUSSINESS

If you are talking about the Field & Stream F187GWBS men's wristwatch, you can purchase replacement generic watch bands at a variety of locations. This watch takes a 22mm width band, and you can replace the original stainless steel band with a leather band for comfort or find a different brand of stainless bands.
If you prefer not to replace your own band, you still don't need a full-service, premium-priced jewelry store. Their replacement watch bands are also often twice as expensive as ones you can find at a discount store or in a shopping mall watch kiosk. Many watch kiosks offer free or low-cost band replacement if you purchase a band from them.

I have a calumet watch, and the band is getting dirty. Is there a way to clean the band?

Polyurethane Band
Polyurethane Bands, which are made of soft plastic, may turn hard after 2-3 year's use. Colour fading can also be seen.
If bands are kept wet and in highly humid locations or are exposed to sunlight for a long time, the deterioration of the bands may be accelerated in a relatively short period and some cracks may appear on the band surface. (This is called 'hydrolytic cleavage of polyurethane')
Kindly pay attention to the condition of polyurethane bands, which are often worn in such occasions as marine sports/outdoor activities
  • We recommend immediate exchange when your polyurethane band loses elasticity or develops cracks.
  • Semi-transparent/white/fair coloured polyurethane band may turn a different colour due to light/stain ( or sometimes may absorb colours from other materials). In addition, polyurethane bands have many small holes on the surface, which easily catch and hold stains/other different colour material. Thus it is rather tough to entirely clean polyurethane bands. Kindly replace current polyurethane band with a new one when you find extreme discolouration.
  • There exist some sorts of stains (like oil/cosmetics), which cannot be removed off. Smoking cigarette/long time use may turn the colour yellowish.

CAUTION!
Do not use solvent/chemicals (benzene/thinner/breach) for band/bracelet cleaning!

mcdevito75 here, Ebay is a great place for your watch band, but you should know the watch band size in MM, or you can look for a small watch repair shop in your area.

Replace a band on a fossil watch brand 2753 georgia bulldogs

Bands are held to the watch body by springpins. To disengage them, I use a fine blade knife, and pull one end of the pin down by causing the blade to bite into the metal of the pin, between the eye of the band and the watch body. This method will work when dealing with leather straps, perhaps not with a metal band, depending on how much clearance there is between the watch fork and the band's eye.
If there is no clearance, it may be necessary to destroy the springpin to get the band free. Replacement pins can be purchased at a watch repairer.
Replacing batteries: You need the back off. Some screw on, most press in. Press- ins can usually be released with a knife blade, or small leverage device if there is a specific release place on the rear cover. On odd occasions, it becomes necessary to "use a hammer and chisel". Not easy.
Screw- off backs need a tool to engage the slots on the rear. Sometimes can be done with a pair of long- nose pliers.
The backs often have a fine rubber sealing ring, for water resistance. This needs to be put back in place carefully.
The batteries are held in place by various means, spring tension, clamping etc. Sometimes a screw or two must be loosened to free the battery.
Really, it is all a job for the experienced.
I only do work on my own and other family member's watches. I have a range of tools I have made for these. I wouldn't risk doing outsiders' watches. I do bands and batteries, but leave it at that.
