Sounds like a seat safety switch. replace it and see if that fixes it or you can try to bypass the switch and see if that helps too

SOURCE: toro self propelled will not move wheels. Checked engaging keys

Remove the front wheels and see if the cogs that are molded into the wheels are stripped. If they are stripped out that could be where the noise is comming from.

Good Luck let me know if this helps.

Something is jammed in the drive and when you put the mower in gear the motor stalls. U need to locate the source of the problem - once you do that all will be copacetic.

Engine starts and is in neutral, will not shift into gear?

What brand, model and year? If it is a newer model...make sure the kickstand is up before engaging machine in gear. That will stall it. Manufacturer's put that glich into the system on purpose. Riders were not smart enough to put kick stand up and were crashing....

My landlords toro riding mower starts fine but as soon as i touch the shifter to put it in gear it dies over and over..carb is clean and new gas with stabilizer

There are several safety switches that prevent operation in case the rider falls off, etc. First check seat safety switch...the likely culprit. It must close ensuring a person is in the seat for movement or blade operation. Find a toro wiring diagram, or visually wire trace, or just inspect the proper operation of all safety switches. DO NOT BYPASS SAFETY SWITCHES, but ensure they are working properly for SAFE OPERATION.

Galant vrg-gdi-when i engage reverse the car stalls--but once you start moving --ok

You vehicle uses a Idle air control motor,(IAC) when you put a load on the vehicle (Drive or reverse) the ECM detects the load and idles up the IAC, even for the A/C (air conditioner) You can try a throttle body cleaning. or a new IAC

Vibration when in gear, and stalling.

The problem is the torque converter solenoid. I had it happen on my 94 Cavalier a few years back and was a cheap fix at the local car mechanic. What happens is the transmission warms up and hits a certain speed where the solenoid engages, but then it sticks and won't disengage until it cools down sufficiently. When it sticks, it causes the car to shake when slowing down and will snub out the engine if you come to a stop.
