Question about Isuzu NQR Bolt. automatic transmission control cable. air intake

1 Answer

I have a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo automatic that will only move in reverse at high RPMs. It works fine in all other gears. I took it to AAMCO and they said that to fix the problem they would have to do a total rebuild for $3200. Can you fix just the reverse part of the transmission? Any other ideas on fixing the problem? FYI they did not open the transmission to make this determination they just put in into reverse.

Yes you need a rebuild 3200 is a little stiff. Look for a smaller shop or do you need there warranty

Automatic transmission

If your Vehicle will not move in reverse until you you reverse it up sound as thought your reverse pump in your trans has gone or getting ready to go out . It call worn out . So you will have to change the trans out for R&R trans it will run about $2000.00

I'm having transmission problems on my 2002 Isuzu rodeo first gear is really slow but as soon as it gets to second and up its ok.

If that is an automatic & if the fluid has not been
changed every 3 years since it was new, then it's
done,pull it & rebuild it

Sounds like it is slipping in first gear, the fluid should
smell bad as well

Reverse on 1994 Isuzu Trooper

run fault codes and look for a reverse solenoid /sensor fault.

When in gear and a/c is turned on, wants to stall

run the fault codes and check for problem idle control sensor
500 rpms are too slow for idle should be around 850 for automatic
also have the voltage regulator /alternator checked as the problem is not enough voltage ti run the car and the ac because the available voltage isn't high enough

Transmission, not wanting to go in gear

After replacing a transmission on one Rodeo for that problem, I discovered there is a transmission control module located on top of the transmission on the driver's side. Two bolts disconnect it. Wipe off the old electric grease, and put on new electric grease. Reinstall the part. I have now driven 30,000 miles on this fix. Needless to say, I was very unhappy with AAMCO. If your rodeo starts having that problem, drive only in third gear until you can fix this part. Planetisuzoo is very detailed on this fix.

1996 Rodeo Isuzu - I put it in Winter Drive and now 1 rear wheel

Based on another similar problem and it was fixed driving backwards, that's exactly what I did. I drove the Rodeo backwards and then would stop and put it in gear and did this for 10 minutes until I worked the 4x4 gear loose and now all four wheels run. I must say, I created quite a sight driving backwards in a Wal-Green's parking lot for 10 minutes.
