Mower deck will not engage

I assume you mean the blades will not engage. Many times this indicative of a faulty safety feature. Make sure your seat safety connection in hooked tightly. If it is trace the wiring backwards from the seat and look for broken or frayed wires. Fix them.

Riding mower starts, but dies when blade engaged, or clutch/brake released

The safety switch that turns off the engine when you get off the seat is probably disconnected, broken, or out of adjustment, IT is the most common switch to fail. Many users disable it, but then you assume the liability if someone is injured due to the bypassing of the switch. It is sad that manufacturers have to install all these really unneeded features when a little common sense from the users would eliminate the need for them entirely.

Troy bilt mower pony

are your blades engaged when you try to do this??
if so it is a back up safety feature from factory, turn blades off and try?
Or put the ignition switch in the position that will keep the mower running when you go in reverse with the blades on or push a button on dash when you go in reverse, probably not on yours just some of the features on some models and just something to look for on yours

Cutter blade remains locked.

when you release the blade, sometimes you have to reengage it manually, turn it to unlock, machine off (safety only) push up on bottom of upper blade until it stops. turn hand wheel and watch if blade is moving. If not repeat. When it moves your good to go.

Just rented this DW760 and don't know how to release the blade. I'm sure its a safety feature but can't see how to release it.

It should be a lever in front of the handle push it forward to release the brake

My lawn mower will start easily and continue running as long as the clutch brake is depressed but when I lift the clutch or try to engage the blades while the clutch is depressed the mower will stall.

This is a shot in the dark. I think you have a failed "operator presence safety switch". Rule this out by finding the switch and jumping it.

Your mower should run with no one in the seat IF THE PARKING BRAKE IS SET.

If the brake is released and no one is on it, it should shut off.

If you are on it and the brake is released you should be able to engage the blades (probably an electric clutch)

Purpose of this interlock is the shut the machine OFF should you fall off or jump off the machine. Do not disable this valuable safety feature.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks for your question @

My tacoma shifter "floats" in and out of gear while driving

My cars are the same way. You can shift in and out of neutral without holding the release button. I'm not sure if it is a safety feature or not, but it's a standard feature.

Trimer buing Question

Double position trimmers For extended reach while on the ground, a double position trimmer avoids you having to climb up high by allowing you to adjust the handle into a right angle to the blades for a level cut across the top of the hedge. Clippings collector As you trim your hedge, collect those stray cuttings in a clippings collector for a neater finish. Automatic cut out An important safety feature, this automatically switches off the hedge trimmer once the trigger is released. Hand guard For reassuring safety, a hand guard will protect you from the moving blades and from falling cuttings as you work.

Control lock

Press the button on the far right next to the Off button and hold for 3 seconds. I think it's the "Cycle End Signal" button.

This should release the control.

It's a child safety feature.
