I have a laptop dv5 1010ew and when i switch it on the lights come on and go off after 5 seconds or so. tried everything and nothing works so i am thinking of getting a new motherboard and i have no idea on how to get the exact compatible one or how to change it myself

You have to go to hp website www.hp.com/#support go to start control panal and click on sound make sure that it is not muted ,if not remove and reboot computer and vista should reinstall sound drivers

If your OEM is original from manufacture, and this option was installed. Restart PC, at the HP intro screen type "f11" 4 times, choose recovery, make shure you choose "restore to manufature settings" gl hope this works for you.

Somebody call you a name and you want to start a war. HP is a very good company and they have an excellent support dpt. But I can say with 95% certain, the problem is not your MB. Carefully read the instructions and just following the rules for download, you will suceed. If not, go to their support dpt. But don try to tell them what is wrong. Let them tell you. Seems like it actually may be a problem with the keyboard. Could be that those particular buttons are faulty. I would try a new keyboard. They seem to be cheap enough these days!!Hope this helps!
