Repetitive beeping sound on startup - no ...

I have an hp pavilion a420n. I powered it down, removed the power cord. and inserted a 512 mb ram chip. I tried starting it back up and the power button lights up and you can hear the fans, but the screen and keyboard don't respond. There is also a repeating beep sound that does not stop 5-6 second intervals. Is the power supply toast. How can I fix it?

Remove the memory chip. It was probably either not installed properly or is not compatible with your PC. That should fix your problem.

Make sure you have it inserted correctly. Make sure it is pushed down all the way. You are using the correct memory for your laptop. If your original memory was working and now it isn't, then most likely you do not have it installed properly.
