Question about Olivetti Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

It works just fine until it reaches the middle of the paper. Then it stops moving so all the letters end up on top of each other. The space bar also doesn't work after it reaches mid way on the paper - even though it works perfectly fine before that point.

The right margin is set..reset the margin, or there is a bind in the carriage. Use the MR (margin release key). to get by the margin, then reset it.

SOURCE: space bar key doesn't work

If the keys do nothing at all you probably need a keyboard, if they do something but not what you want try a little WD40 on the silver shaft that guides the carrier. If it's the KB contact Geo. Beyers Co.

SOURCE: I have an old school

If there is tension on the carriage when you push it to the right, the spring is not broke or the cord..then the problem would be in the escapement area..you would need a repairman to do this. if the carriage is loose, no tension then the spring is either broke or the cord is off or broke.
Either way not something easy....

Space bar will not work.

It's probably just dirty and gunked up. Clean it with Q-tips and a bit of rubbing alcohol.

The far right and left ends of the spacebar do not work. In order to use the spacebar function, the direct middle of the button has to be pushed down.

You need to reposition (clip) the torssion bar under the spacebar key (a steel wire formed in a wide U shape), it is unhooked, call for a professionnal if you'r not sure how to do this as you may brake the plastic hinge if you don't know what you'r dooing...

I am trying to print a document in Word and my Phaser 8560 will print it, but there is a blank section on the page (approximately 4 inches wide running down the middle of the page) where the text did not...

Did the document print in full even though it left blank spaces? I f so the problem is The Page Break Occurred before it actually reached the end of the paper. Check what paper is selected on the printer. I don't mean the tray or paper feeder.
On the LCD screen on the printer go through the menu till you find the paper. Make sure the paper is set to A4 or Letter (whatever you normally use.) and make sure this setting matches with the paper select in the documenent.
Check File ->Print ->Settings or Options .... Find out where the paper is mentioned and select A4 or Letter as the case may be.
Hope this will solve your problem
Good luck

Printer says it has a paper jam even after it has been cleared

The screeching sound is caused when the print head reaches the end of its travel and hits the paper jam which you cannot see using the suggested jam-clearing steps. So

1. unplug the printer
2. lift the cover so the blue support on the left holds the cover up
3. plug in the printer, watch the printer head move
4. after it stops, gently move the printer head toward the middle and look at the far ends of travel. you should find the cause(s) of the jam up against the sides of the printer. remove with needle-nose pliers.
5. replace cover, plug in the machine. it will go through a cleaning or 2, but it should be ready to go after that

MY PRINTER SAYS 34 SHORT PAPER HOW DO I FIX IT

open paper tray and look at the paper stopper ( the one on the end that you can adjust for the paper lenght)
is it set for letter?
now take a look on the SIDE of the tray there are three prongs, when you adjust the paper lenght, are they moving as you adjust the paper? for letter size the bottom two should be out and the top one should be in.
