If the drive belt from motor to transaxle is wobbly, does it need replacing or can I tighten it?

Few mechanisms are produced that use a non-elastic belt that has no belt adjustment. There are a variety of belt adjustment methods available for designers and if one is used on your machine it should be intuitive to recognise and adjust.

If no adjustment is provided the machine is either of inferior quality or it uses or should use an elastic belt. One problem here is some stretchy belts need such a lot of force they seem like ordinary non-stretchy belts.

Tt200 Newmark platter won't spin

RE. record deck not turning.
most older turntables are belt driven, these corrode over time becoming brittle and lose their stretchy abilities (like an elastic band), you can sometimes get a little extra use by cutting a small section out of the belt then using a tiny spot of superglue to stick the ends back together (end to end, DON'T overlap), i've used elastic bands in this same way when the belt has been beyond rescue.... postal service elastic bands are about the right width, ask your local postman. you don't want it too tight, just enough to prevent any slack.

Can a Bissell belt fit on a Hoover vacuum cleaner?

If it is a stretch belt It may fit but if it is not the right size or has lost elasticity it will not work properly. If it is a clogged or ribbed belt or a serpentine style belt you must use he correct belt. Stretch belts are hard to install because they must be stretched to almost twice their original length to be installed. After a few months it will lose much of its elasticity a slip on the brush roll when cpvacuuming carpet. The brush roll is the most important part on a vacuum if using it on carpets. A tight belt is crucial to the brush roll spinning fast and not slipping which is why belts must be replaced at least twice per year.

I have the right belt so Zanussi tells me, but it seems to be 1 inch short. I have loosened the motor and everything else, but it is too short. The belt has the number 1196 . HELP

You have not specified the model of washing machine and it is impossible to give the correct answer. But I can generally explain the characteristics of the belt. It is elastic drive belt 1196 J5 which means that 1196 mm is the working length based on the belt mounted on the pulleys. "J" and "H" means shape of the drive belt and finally number after word (J5) means number of teeth (could be: 4,5,6,8) .The length marked on the drive belt (1196,1217,1280 etc.) is the working length based on the belt mounted on the pulleys. For a given working length, the belts - which consist of different materials - have a different degree of elasticity. This means that, when not fitted to the appliance, their lengths may be different. It is normal that the length of a plastic belt not fitted to the pulleys is three or four centimeters greater than that of a rubber belt. Also, both types of elastic drive belt are shorter than the working length and therefore it is a little more difficult to replace but not so much that you have to lossen motor.

Riccar vacuum 8625 vacuums the floors;but does not seem to have suction for the carpets

The belt may look fine but could have lost elasticity. Stretch belts will lose elasticity and should be replaced at least once or twice per year. If the brush strips are worn or frayed it will not pick up properly.

Vacuum seems to have lost some suction and is harder to push on carpet

Start by installing a new belt. Belts lose elasticity fairly quickly. And should be replaced at least twice per year. Belts lose elasticity even if the vacuum has never been used. It's possible for a brand new vacuum to actually have been assembled a year or two ago which means it may end a new belt before it was ever used for the first time,

Have a Dirt Devil Cyclonic bagless upright that is new and throws the belt when used. You can run it off the floor and the belt stays on. The belt is new as is the vacuum...?

It's possible that your vacuum belt is stretched even if it's new and has never been used. A stretch belt should be replaced at least twice per year even I'd you may have never even turned the vacuum on. The belt starts to lose elasticity as soon as it is installed. The vacuum was likely made in China and between the factory, shipping and warehouses and the store shelf it is very possible for a belt to have lost elasticity and need replaced before you even took it home from the store. Start by replacing the belt and then replace at least every six months.

My turntable seems to be out of sequence. The motor runs ok, belt seems ok. The platter only begins to rotate if I push it by hand for couple of seconds, then it just wants to return to stop position. If I...

It sounds like your belt is the problem, as that's the most normal reason. If the turntable is reasonably old the belt may have lost elasticity and not driving the platter properly.Check the wear on the belt and replace if it is suitably worn.
