Question about Computers & Internet
For a software solution, you will clone the hard drive by making an image. Two popular softwares for this software are:
1)Acronis True Image
Symantec Ghost Solution Suite
Both of these softwares need you to change your boot sequence and change to the drive in which you put the software (you burn it on a cd or thumbdrive)
If you plan to clone to another hard drive, you can use the hardware solution. Simply put your hard drive and the target hard drive you want to make a clone. There are two brands for this purpose :
1) Archgon MH-3621 archgon MH 3621 Clone USB 3 0 Dual Bay Docking System
EN CAHDD U3C Retriever Series Cavalry

Not necessarily, you could just systematically copy each folder from one place to another. This can get time consuming if there are a lot of folders that you want to copy so there are softwares out there that are designed to clone your hard drive.
