Check if there is any lose in the battery. I will shot that this is software malfunction. Probably software upgrade will fix it.. But start from putting small piece of paper between rear cover and battery. Or shake a little bit phone to check if its going to turn off

Hi my htc that i just bought on ebay is having major problems it keeps switching itself on and off i am worried because ive paid 179.00 for a phone that could be pinched or faulty

If a phone randomly shuts off and on, typically its a software based issue. I'd suggest just reloading the phone operating system. If you have android on your phone, you'll need to reload it using HTC's sync software available on their website.
