Remove the 3 Phillips screws that secure the keyboard to the computer.

Turn the computer right-side up, and then open the display as far as possible.

Turn the computer upside down, and locate the keyboard release access on the bottom of the computer, inside the battery bay.

Insert a flexible tool into the opening, and then press inward to release the keyboard.

Turn the computer right-side up, and then lift up on the top and left edges (1) of the keyboard until the keyboard releases completely.
Component replacement procedures 416. Slide the keyboard back until its top edge rests on the display assembly .
Release the zero insertion force connector to which the keyboard cable is attached.
Disconnect the cable and then remove the keyboard.

I want to change the harddisk, but I can not get the computer opened in order to so. Any suggestions?

In order to change the hard drive on this laptop you are going to have the remove the battery and the keyboard because the hard drive is directly under the keys. When you remove the battery you will see 3 screws, remove them. Open the screen and flip the laptop over to see, in the battery compartment, the keyboard release access. Insert a flexible tool and press inward to release the keyboard. Flip the laptop over and gently lift up the top part of the keyboard until it releases. You will see you have the hard drive there. Unscrew it, remove the bracket and replace the hard drive. Be careful not to loose any screws and never force a screw back into place.

Where is the hidden screw located so I can remove the keyboard from a Compaq Armada Edoo to allow for extra ram to be inserted? Thanks

Normally in laptops, there "might" be one screw under the computer about in the middle of the keyboard. It is normally not hidden anywhere. If there is a little compartment with a cover under the computer, you might remove that and see if there is a screw there.
Otherwise, the keyboard is either held in place by clips or, alternatively, it has screws in the top under the plastic bezel that is on top of the computer just below the screen. You'll have to look carefully at the palm rest to see if there is a separate piece that lifts up to expose the top of the keyboard.

I went to replace the memory on my compaq presario x1000 laptop and when I opened the back panel for the memory, I only see one chip. How do I get to the other chip to replace it?

Remove the 2 screws under the laptop that are marked keyboard. There are 4 clips across the top of the keyboard. Slide these toward the bottom of the keyboard and remove the keyboard. You can now access the second socket.

Removal of casing on HP nx8220

First of all remove all your components ie. RAM, hard drive, battery, CD/DVD drive etc. Sometimes there are screws located in the area where these components are located that secures the top and bottom halves of the case.
I suggest that as you remove the screws from the bottom of the case you take a note where the came from as some of the screws are different lengths.
There may be s strip panel between the top of the keyboard and the LCD screen, remove this first, it will be clipped in place and held with screws from the bottom of the laptop.
Next the keyboard should removed and keyboard cable.
Look closely for screws hidden behind plastic stick on covers, you need to use a sharp thin blade to lift off these covers to reveal the screws behind the covers.
The top and bottom halves of the case is usually held in place with plactic clips, start at an opening and carefully pull apart until a clip releases and the work along that edge to release more clips. Continue along each edge until you separate the case.
The LCD screen is usually secured with screws on the back edge of the laptop and possible with screws near the edge of the motherboard. Take care to disconnect the video connector.
The motherboard needs to be removed from the bottom half of the case so you can access the power connector.
Take careful note where you remove each screw as you need to put them back in reverse order.

Best of luck, have fun.

As per the service manual available here on the HP Website is only necessary to remove the switch cover to access the keyboard screws. The switch cover is secured by to screws located in the battery compartment. The keyboard screws are located on the top of the system under the switch cover.

Want to trade out a keyboard on R500, have rear screws out, need help with the front

dont know specifically on the r500 but most laptops have hidden clips at the top of the function keys one on the left and one on the right (use a small flat head screwdriver you can usually see a small hole above the key) which allow you to remove the cover above the top of the keyboard and then its usually a couple of screws to remove the keyboard. dont usually have to remove the s.crews on the base.
