My current hard drive is running really low...

Is there anyway to add another hard drive? Like an external one? Because time has taken affect and what used to be 52gig is now 1gig!
I have basically no memory left. Also, I noticed on my computer as well as my normal hard drive(C:) there was a D: ...
It had around 20gig free and I dont know if I should save things to it or not.
I need a new memory device which I can store movies, graphics and tons of music on. I also have a lot of programs.
Please help, thanks. (:

An external drive would be a possible solution. You could also buy a new internal drive (be sure it is the same interface), buy a 2.5" external usb case, and mirror the data over to the new one. You could then install the new drive into the computer, put the old one in the external case and either use it as a backup or an external drive.

Don't know to transfer my PC hard drive to my Seagate external hard drive (1T)

You can copy paste the contents or cut and paste or right mouse click on contents and click "send to....external drive" Once the contents is on the external drive this can be taken to another PC and copied back. Caution: Some contents can be very LARGE and take a LONG time to be copied! It is advisable to run a BACKUP every now and then. And be sure your external drive is working correctly (Scandisk).

My ac adapter suddenly started smoking but i was able to turn it off immediately. will it affect ny hard drive? is it a problem with the hard drive or adapter?

Surely there is a short-circuit problem with your adapter. The adapter is propably off .You cant know for sure if hdd was affected.Dont connect the adapter to the case anymore for now.
Most external hard disks can be disassembled with relative ease.Disassemble it and check at a local store to find a case for external hdd (relatively low price) so you can see if the hdd works properly or not.

I am a mac user. I purchase a new 1 tb external 2.0 drive from the local post exchange (army base). It worked fine and then just stopped one day. I have taken care of it and never dropped it. I tried...

1. If there is a phisical problem with it (platans not spining), you are better off buying a new one. You don't have to drop it for this to happen, can happen anyway.
2. If it's bad sectors, you can use Hiren's Boot to try and fix it.There are Hard Disk tools on the cd, that can scan it and low level format it.

How to use my Toshiba External Hard Drive. There really are no directions for how to use it.

Plug it into the usb or firewire and it will bring itself up on most computers. Kinda like a ipod if u know how to work one of those. But it has the programs to run it on the hard drive.
Or you can open it up in my computer, J drive usally. And use it like a sd card. Just grab and transfer and it makes a copy. Then you can add folders and what not to organize it.

It should bring up a small window with a searching flashlight and files being loaded. It will do this every time you turn it on or use it on another computer. And it needs to do this to activate the drive. It will take like 30 seconds to complete.

On mine anyways it has two save locations. One storage has 32 gigs and is a harder memory, is less likly to lose the information and has the programs to organise and what not the files and folders( if you choose to use it, I don't) and the instruction manuals(read me file) . The other is the rest of the memory.

to add memory, for increased virtual memory it is to delete msic data from the hard drive, if it is your hard drive low on space you should purchase another hard drive and make the new hard drive as the slave to store more, on it. if not have a bigger hard drive installed, obtain a USB external hard drive. to add increased more memory you have to open the pc, add another sdram/dimm/ddr memory card.

Low disk space and I did clear files.

Low disc space really means nothing, but low disc space.

I understand you have cleared your files, but your going to have to remove more....if you have excessive music, pictures, and videos...try backing them up to a DVD or flash drive, then deleting them off of the computer.

If you cannot seem to clear anymore space the next thing to do would be purchasing an external hard drive. This way you can save files on that drive while not adding anymore to the current drive. You can view some external hard drives here
