if fuel is good and fresh, i would adjust the carb before doing anything else... this will tell you if the exhaust is clogged or a bad carb

1. Replace carb or,
2. Overhaul carb or,
3. Try one of the new "on-engine" carb cleaner-solvent kits which are available at most auto parts stores.

I've never tried one of these kits so I don't know if they actually work, or are just another marketing "pretty face!"

If it is a 2 cycle motor, then use an appropriate 2 cycle oil. I use a synthetic oil that 1 bottle is mixed with 1 gallon of fresh gas.

Get someone to thoroughly clean out the carburettor. Sounds loike main jet blocked.

Unscrew the head's center bump-knob counterclockwise with your fingers. Pull the bump knob off and take the spool cover off the head. Slide out the spool and any remaining cutting line. Lift out the spring underneath the spool. Take out the slide washer. Unscrew the arbor bolt either clockwise or counterclockwise, depending on model, in the center of the trimmer head using the wrench. Take the entire head off the end of the shaft.

Attached to this response are the front and back photos of the clutch assembly from a TB575SS trimmer motor.

at the end of the trimmer where the cutting head assembly connects to the gear box there are some screws. unscrew and replace with the universal head.

I have the same trimmer and I fixed the problem for good by getting a shakespear line trimmer head to replace the original faulty design,it also has 4 line rather than 2 so it cuts better. It costs about $15.00
