Williams furnace company parts

I have a Williams gas wall furnace Model No. 3509622 and I tried to replace the thermocupling and realized it would be easier to replace the entire Pilot/Generator Assembly which is one piece. Where do I get one and does it show a picture of it. It says my part number is P501617.

Assuming the pilot is clean and sharp. Before replacing the valve, clean any spade connections, those going up to the spill switch in particular. Clean and tighten all 4 connections. Good luck.

SOURCE: The pilot light will not stay lit, I was told

Hi, this heater doesn't have a thermocouple, it uses a pilot generator which is more reliable so I doubt you need to change it out. First thing to check is that you have a clean "sharp" blue pilot, you should be able to hear it quietly roar. If it is yellow and appears "soft", the pilot need to be cleaned. The easiest way is to use a straw or tubing of some sort to blow into the pilot, gently tapping the pilot assembly. That should clean it up and heat the pilot generator properly. Tighten the the screw terminals at the control valve to assure good electrical connections and last but not least turn off the thermostat until you get a standing pilot. Good luck and stay warm.

How do you wire the thermosat on williams wall furnace model 3509622

This heater has 2 type gas valves one valve has the thermostat built into it. No wiring needed for that puppy. Looks like this:

So I am guessing that one ain't you.
Your heater must use a millivolt gas valve with the 2 wire wall thermostat. The pilot generator does 2 things. It holds the pilot on and it produces voltages that operate the solenoid and open and close the valve when the room thermostat makes contacts. So what goes wrong with these? The pilot generator will sometimes hold the pilot flame but whn the 2 wires are touched together or you tun on the wall thermostat the whole thang just dies. That my friend is a weak thermopile generator. The other thang that goes wrong is the solenoid on the gas valve is open and therefore the gas won't come on. Their is also a fuse mounted on there that melts and kills the magnet that the generator holds in for the pilot.

I have Wiiliams direct vent wall furnace. I smell gas only when pilot is on and burner is not on. It does not smell when it is fully running (burner is on)

Dear Alex191: I am shocked and amazed that the Williams heater company is STILL knowingly and willingly selling faulty direct vent gas heaters. My problems took place in 1988! I bought a 30,000 BTU Williams DIRECT VENT from The Home Depot. I took the time to remove window sashes and run gas line to the Williams heater that I had placed in the window aperture. I was glad to finally have heat and be able to heat the area of the house where I stayed. Then I began to smell gas when the Williams was OFF. I traced it to the area where the pilot light gas tubing entered the combustion chamber. I removed the Williams unit and replaced it with an identical make and model and the SAME THING HAPPENED!!! I sat on my bed and almost cried. I had the gas company come out and they labled the problem as a "fuzz leak". The warranty repairman came out and had no idea what to do. Tightening the retaining nut did nothing. I called Williams and even back then they said that they were aware of the problem. They called me back and wanted to send me a part and asked me, "Can you work on it?" I returned the Williams and bought a Perfection-Schwank CONSOL heater that burns the air in the room and vents horizontally to a 4 inch vertical gas vent and was very satisfied with it. When they went out of business I bought an "Empire" brand gas heater. I don't know if I'll ever buy another direct vent heater from anyone. I will be glad to write an affidavit should you decide to suit the Williams company.

I have a Williams Ceramic Gas Wall Mounted Panel Heater, the pilot is on but the furnance is not working

Jump the two wires going to the thermostat, if it starts , you have either a bad thermostat or a broken thermostat wire. If it does not fire up, you will need to check for 24 volts AC going to the gas valve from the transformer. If you have voltage, you have a gas valve issue. If no voltage, check for a limit switch that may have overheated with an Ohm meter. If they all test good, replace the transformer.
