Re: registery problem

Its not dangerous to change your registry settings. Go to Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Backup Click it and it will Backup your system. If this does not solve your problem then you have to reinstall your OS.

How do I get into the registery of an Acer aspire 5515 registery with Windows Vista home basic operating system to clean out Security Tool inputs?

Click on Start->Run or press the windows button and r simultaneously in key board. Type "Regedit" without double quotes. Press Enter. Take backup of registry before editing it and don't play with it if you are not confident of what you are doing. Your system may not boot if you do something wrong to registry.

No audio

I would say that you should install WinXP SP3 (if you are using WinXP) or Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver from Microsoft and then restart computer, it should work. here is the link for UAA Driver
And for WinXP SP3
try one of the link, it should work.

Take care.

How to change your winxp sp2 to sp3

there is some games you can't play in winxp sp2, like gta IV online.
you have to reinstall or format your computer just to turn your operating system in winxp sp3, just to play this game. do'nt waste your time to format or reinstall your hard drive just follow this quick step

Step 1: Run Regedit by Clicking on Start -> Run , type in regedit and press enter
Step 2: Make a backup of your registry (just in case)
Step 3: Browse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlWindows"
Step 4: Modify the value of "CSDVersion" from "0x00000200" (SP2) to the Windows XP SP3 value of "0x00000300"
Step 5: Close registry editor
Step 6: Reboot
Step 7: Start GTA and freakin enjoy it already!

Not able to open regedit!

Hi, you do have a virus and or trojan.

Please download Malwarebytes anti-malware from When you download choose save to disk and rename the file to anything you like, The reason for the rename is many newer trojans can identify malware removal tools and prevent them from working as well as disabling you regedit and task manager.
Let anti-malware install and update and perform a quick scan.
When its finished have it remove what it can. If it asks to reboot do so.
When you have restarted your computer download Avast anti-virus
from again renaming the exe when saving to disk.
After install it will ask if you wish to schedule a boot time scan select yes. Then it will tell you to restart your system, choose restart later. Open avast from the start menu and select settings. Go to updating and update the virus signatures. Restart your computer when the update is complete.
You have to watch the screen as avast will alert you and ask for your preferred action on what it finds.

When completed your computer will boot normally into Windows run both scanners again in the same order.

Good luck

Windows Xp Home Edition w/sp3

there are multiple ways to tweak your registry to turn it back. here are, maybe, the simple way.
1. copy follow code (between lines but not to include the lines) into your Notepad:

2. save it, for example name it as "abc.txt"

3. rename "abc.txt" to "abc.reg". if you successful rename it. you will see the file icon changes to like a blue magic cube with a paper behind it.

4. double click your "abc.reg". you should get a pop up ask you " Are you sure you want to add the information in xyz(the file path)\abc.reg to the registry? " with Yes and No button. please click yes

5. click OK on this information pop up. You should be all set.

Slow in boot up

MAKE YOUR MENUS LOAD FASTER This is one of my favourite tweaks as it makes a huge difference to how fast your machine willMAKE

This is one of my favorite tweaks as it makes a huge difference to how
fast your machine will 'feel'. What this tweak does is remove the slight
delay between clicking on a menu and XP displaying the menu.

Go to Start then Run
Type 'Regedit' then click 'Ok'
Find "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\"
Select "MenuShowDelay"
Right click and select "Modify'
Reduce the number to around "100"
This is the delay time before a menu is opened. You can set it to "0" but
it can make windows really hard to use as menus will open if you just look
at them - well move your mouse over them anyway. I tend to go for anywhere
between 50-150 depending on my mood.

I wanna to change of the windows xp's strat name

Download a software named resource hacker from internet. Its of some kbs only. In that software you open your "explorer.exe" located at C:/windows/ In that go to String Table->37->1033->and change 'start' to 'yourname' Do not remove single quotes. Save it with other name as "newexplorer.exe" But before doing this make copy of your explorer.exe in other drive or place. Now change the registery by writting "regedit" in Start->Run Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon In the right pane double click the Shell entry to open the Edit String dialog box as shown. In Value data: line, enter the name that was used to save the modified explorer.exe file. Click OK Close Registry Editor and either log off the system and log back in, or reboot the entire system if that?s your preference. If all went as planned you should see your new Start button with the revised text.
