Its not dangerous to change your registry settings. Go to Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Backup Click it and it will Backup your system. If this does not solve your problem then you have to reinstall your OS.

How to change your winxp sp2 to sp3

there is some games you can't play in winxp sp2, like gta IV online.
you have to reinstall or format your computer just to turn your operating system in winxp sp3, just to play this game. do'nt waste your time to format or reinstall your hard drive just follow this quick step

Step 1: Run Regedit by Clicking on Start -> Run , type in regedit and press enter
Step 2: Make a backup of your registry (just in case)
Step 3: Browse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlWindows"
Step 4: Modify the value of "CSDVersion" from "0x00000200" (SP2) to the Windows XP SP3 value of "0x00000300"
Step 5: Close registry editor
Step 6: Reboot
Step 7: Start GTA and freakin enjoy it already!

WinXP with NERO8, and SP3

If you have WinXP and NERO v. 8, - then DONT upgrade yor system to SP3.
Your controlpanel disaper, and uninstall of the SP3 is impasible, but, - if you got this problem, do as follow:
"run" regedit, find and delete all nero 8 related issues, it takes about a milion years, but its the only way.
When this is done, and your controlpanel is reachable, delete SP3, and do all the updates for SP2 +.
Then reinstall NERO8 again, and you are back on track.

I installed a DLink DWLG510 wireless desktop adapter in a PC running WXP SP3 I got the error code 10: this device cannot work. Can you help?

Try uninstalling the driver and software then reboot, and reinstall if that does not work then
Uninstall the driver, software shutdown computer remove card reboot and reinstall. If this does not work it is probably a registery issue.
SO uninstall the driver and software
edit the registery value
click start - run Regedit to open registry editor, be careful to select the right value here.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - System - CurrentControlSet - Enum
now right click on Pci folder and select permissions
click on everyone in this box and check full access
reboot it should solve your problem.
Make sure the encryption you are using on the router is WEP that is what works for this specific card.

Fujitsu USB handydrive is asking for a driver upon connection with a deskdtop running XP SP3. Same SP3 on HP and Toshiba notebooks have not problem recognizing the disk. Is there a special driver need. do...

Hello,

If your external HD works with other notebooks then the XP SP3 operating system may cause that problem. There may be a driver conflict.

To solve that you should change the drive letter name of your external hard disk. To be able to change the drive letter of it, you can install and run the "Tweak UI" software which is downloadable from the windows website. To download Tweak UI software for windows XP, please click here.

1. After installing and running the Tweak UI you will see the screen below.

You can access your system settings using this tool such as disk drives, and you will be able to change the current settings.
Be careful not to change the other settings.

2. Click on "My Computer > Drive" as shown in the picture below.

And assign another drive letter to your external hard disk (for example checking drive letter F:) and click button "Apply".

3. Then restart your computer to see if it works.

This is one of the solutions that I did before. Your problem may need different solution. This is possible then you can ask again. Fixya experts solve every problem.

But I hope this helps.
If you would like to vote for the answer, this will help the others to see the similar problems solved and also will be a satisfaction factor for me to continue helping you.
All the best.

Hp pavillion a1120n wont auto read cds

This would mean that autostart is not turned on many programs will turn this on for you like Apples iTunes.

You can turn it off using TweakUI powertool if you use WinXP Home, howeverthe best way is to use a reg tweak to turn it ON however I suggest that you keep it OFF for normal use;

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Then go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Create a new value called: NoDriveTypeAutoRun
Type is: DWORD
Value is: 0x000000b1 (177)

If you use WinXP Professional and feel up to changinf your templates you can enter the Group Policy window.

You should select Administrative Templates \ System in the tree view: grouppol.png You will see an item in the right side pane called “Turn off Autoplay”

autopnotconf.png
Double click the item, and set the radio button to Enabled, and change the “Turn off Autoplay on” to All Drives.

How to enable regedit affected by virus

1. go to run - > cmd -> type cd \windows\regedit.exe regedit.com

2. go to run -> type gpedit.msc - > expand User Configuration - > expand Administrative templates -> select system -> on the right side p anel double click prevent access to registery editing tools - > select disabled - > hit apply and ok.

3. Google for hijackthis.exe from trendmicro -> download the application -> execute the hijackthis application -> accept the aggrement ->click on do a system scan and save a log. -> locate option that reads regedit.exe or registry or sounds like referring to registery editing tools -> check mark the option and click on Fix checked.

Try above 3 options one by one if 1st one doesnt resolve your problem.

Best to have a free antivirus like AVG or Antivir to avoid virus issues.

YOUR MENUS LOAD FASTER

This is one of my favorite tweaks as it makes a huge difference to how
fast your machine will 'feel'. What this tweak does is remove the slight
delay between clicking on a menu and XP displaying the menu.

Go to Start then Run
Type 'Regedit' then click 'Ok'
Find "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\"
Select "MenuShowDelay"
Right click and select "Modify'
Reduce the number to around "100"
This is the delay time before a menu is opened. You can set it to "0" but
it can make windows really hard to use as menus will open if you just look
at them - well move your mouse over them anyway. I tend to go for anywhere
between 50-150 depending on my mood.
