I bought an untested Samsung L730 digital camera without a battery, I have bought a USB charger/data cable but the orange flashing light on the charger stays on. I am using Windows XP. Is it likely that...

You CANNOT charge a camera through a USB port there just is not enough power! you need to get an original wall charger and power up from that. Even the USB cable/wall charger will NEVER charge it up sufficiently.
The USB cable is for data transfer only.

I lost the cable to connect my camera to my computer where can I get another one and how much woukd it cost .I have a Samsung Digimax D53

Consider getting a card reader instead. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".

Coolpix s220 won't transfer pics via usb cable

If you can get the pics using a card reader, why are you insisting on using the camera and USB cord? Pros always use a card reader.

My computer doesn't recognize my new cord for my camera

Try to check if the camera software and driver is properly installed in your computer.

Make sure that your camera is compatible with your computer operating system.

Are you sure you purchased a genuine Samsung USB cord? Because it would be much advisable to use Samsung USB cable.

Try to go to and you may purchase the cable there.

If your new computer's operating system is Windows Vista, the driver for the Samsung Digimax D53 is incompatible. If you have W98, then you should just be able to plug and play your camera to your computer or download the driver from

I bought a samsung digimax 301 from a friend

no you wont be able to do that without software, you should have got a cdrom with the camera along with the usb lead. Install the software and follow the instructions, you will then be able to transfer pictures to your pc.

Where to get a Samsung s500 usb cable

I can't imagine why in the world you would want to pay an inflated price for another proprietary USB cable. I haven't plugged a camera directly into my computer for years. The last time I did, it was balanced precariously while downloading pictures and got knocked off the table. The USB cable stopped its fall, but the jack in the body of the camera was twisted in the process and completely ruined. A much better option would be to head to your local Comp USA, Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc. and purchase a 9 in 1 card reader. It's a small block of plastic with several slots that will accept a wide variety of memory card formats that have been created over the years. With this single USB device you can read/transfer data from many different devices that you may own. The reader can stay attached to your computer all the time. You simply take the media card out of your camera and plug it into the reader whenever you want to download your pictures. Simple! As an added benefit, you can now make use of that pathetic 128 meg card that came with your camera. Write all your internet accounts, passwords, and other important info to it. Then hide it in a safe place (deposit box) in case of disaster.
