Re: give me

Open your pc in safe mode. For opening your pc in safe mode: During system reboot press F5 or F8 All the options mostly like this will come: 1)Normal Windows. 2)Safe mode. 3)Safe mode with command promt. Select safe mode option. Then go to Start-> Run -> type 'msconfig' in it In msconfig -> Startup -> Uncheck the Reboot option. Your pc will not restart again and again.

The "tfght" message means that some of the files, folders and sub folders are compressed.
Boot the Windows 7 DVD, choose Custom install, on "Where do you want to install Windows" screen, click on Load Driver. Now use the mini-explorer which pops up to rightclick on System HD then choose Properties. Uncheck "Compress Drive to save Disk Space" for All Files and Sub-Folders. Restart.
That should solve the problem.
However you may have to start again. Click on the link below for an in-depth guide on how to dual boot XP and Windows 7.

Good luck and regards.

My pc restarting at the xp icon again and again

Hi nadeem_1085,

It sounds like you have some or the files used to start up your computer are corrupted.

The following procedure is not for beginners. If you are unsure about your ability to complete this task then bring it to a professional who can.

You are going to need your Windows CD to attempt this procedure.

First insert the windows XP or Vista Disk. Start up the computer. The computer should ask if you want to boot from the CD/DVD.

*Skip to the next paragraph if it says boot from CD/DVD.
If it does not then restart the PC and press F2 (or possibly another button. It should say press a button to enter setup on the first screen when the computer starts). Next there should be an option for boot. In the boot menu you should move your CD drive higher on the list than your Hard drive. Sometimes it may say press "a button" for boot sequence at startup. Compaq computers do that. Restart and then press enter when the pc asks to boot from the CD/DVD.

The setup should load and then you want to press R for Repair. It should then ask you to choose an installation. Normally there is only one choice. (C:\Windows). press the number beside your copy of windows, usually 1. Then you'll need to type the administrator password from the pc. Unfortunately if you do not know your administrator password you will not be able to continue from here (Remember to try a blank password).

*If you have forgotten your admin password you could download and burn a OPHcrack to a disk and it would find your admin password if you inserted it into the PC at startup just like the windows disc.

Next you should type the following command without the quotes: "chkdsk /r" the disk should check for and try and repair errors. When it completes you should run "fixboot" and "fixmbr" repair the startup process of the computer.

If this does not work and XP still wont start. I would recommend downloading Knoppix and burning it to a CD. It will boot the same as a the windows setup disk and you can recover the files from your hard drive with it. Attach an external drive and right click on the properties of the drive that appears, click on device and uncheck read only. Then double click the drive to mount it. The drives of your old computer should be called something like hda1 and maybe hda2. Open them and copy the data from the drive to the one that appeared when you plugged it in.

After copying the data you can reinstall windows and copy the data back.

I hope this helps you,

Plz solve this problem

This would have been caused by corrupt system file.

Insert your Windows XP installation Disk and boot from your CD Drive. The installation will offer an option for Recovery, select it and let the installation run. This should solve your problem.

Laptop ntldr problem

When pc first starts, press the F2 key to open the pc cmos settings. Look around and find the boot list and ensure that the machine will boot on cd before hdd. Than boot on your OS cd and attempt to repair existing. This will at worse case reinstall your system.

Booting problem

RIGHT Click...
My Computer
From the menu choose Properties
Click the Advanced tab
Click Startup and Recovery
Under the system failure area take the check OUT of the box that says Automatically Restart.

Windows XP sucks on 128MB, get yourself more memory, go to 1 Gig.
Your problem could also be hardware such as a power supply so re-comment if the suggestion did not work for you.
