If you don't wanna send it for service, open the chassis of the player and free the CDs from the tray. Its highly likely that the CDs came off the trays and got stuck inside.

same problem with my dads UCD 100. the problem is the motor is going and the latch spring in now too tight to release. to resolve replce the motor, but temporary solution is to stretch the spring a bit and that should allow the release. you might need to pull it out a bit once it comes out to lock it off otherwise it might slide back in.
hope this helps.

your is having a mechanism problem. Mechanism faults are hard and sometimes impossible to fix except a replacement is made. Also, I don't think there is a replacement part for UCD-70 mechanism.
So, what you will have to do now is to check any local repair shop within your vicinity, and ask if they have any bad UCD-70, so that you can remove its mechanism and replace it yours.
This is one of the remedy, there are still other remedies.
