Sounds like a skinned wire on your front or rear limit switches is touching metal. Go over your low voltage wiring and test again.

You have a code inside of the remote, which is accessed by taking the back off. The numbers need to match the code that you have in the unit in your garage. What you do, is click any one or two numbers up on you remote, than match the number on the garage door opener so it will work, You will need to remove the face on the garage door unit, usually where the light is than the next time your neighbor opens his garage door, yours should stay closed...it will require a step ladder for your garage unit...not a difficult job.

No each manufacturer uses a different code that is built into the keypad.
