Flash won't open on the d40

All of a sudden my flash won't open when I push the button. I have a d40 I purchased about 6 months ago. Any solutions?

The flash on D series doesn't always open by itself or when you push the button, as part of the design. If you are in manual mode the flash should open when you push the button, but when in Auto, if there is enough light present for the flash to stay closed, even if you push the flash button, I don't think it will open.

In Auto mode, try pointing the camera at something dark or holding your hand up in front of it and push the shutter button halfway down to see if the flash opens. If not, you will probably have to take it in to be repaired.

Yes there is a reset. After you have opened the phone and let it dry a few days, put in the battery and hold the power and volume down button for about 6-10 seconds. This will then start the boot sequence.

Nikon d40 flash won't fire

If it clicks when the flash is already open, it seems there would be a problem with the flash open sensor. The camera thinks the flash is closed, so it tries to open it again and it refuses to fire, because firing in the closed position would blow the bulb.

The D40 flash is a bit different, but if you open it (just unscrew the two little screws in front) you'll recognize the sensor clips. Open and close the flash and see if the make contact when open.

(And DON'T fire the flash when open, or at the very least don't touch anything in there when firing or you'll get zapped.

The Dell Mini-Tower Studio computer won't turn on? This occurred about 4 months ago it did the same, then all of a sudden we pushed the button and it turned on.

The power source is failing - it will have to be replaced. You can find a generic 400 watts one in almost every shop that sells pc's. Installing it is easy - the cables plug only the right way.

You may have it turned off. Find the button with the lightning bolt and press it while watching the screen. Press until you get the lightning bolt with an "A" beside it.

Nikon d40 not working and focusing

I have similar problem on my D40. I think there is something mechanical with the camera's shutter button, some connections, I guess... The only solution I've found is to go to Menu > Custom Settings Menu > "AE-L/AF-L" and set to "AF". Now you can focus by AF-L button. Focusing works then perfectly. The WORST thing is that I can't lock exposure now and that's sad :( Maybe I can try to fix this in the camera center later, we'll see. But it takes months in Ukraine to do the fixing... Hate that!
