SOURCE: Upgrade firmware on a cisco ASA 5500 firewall

This is for the pixes, I haven't upgraded an asa yet...should be close or the same

* find latest version of code, these are usually *.bin files located on http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/pix
* confirm the flash and RAM requirements of the PIX OS software versus what the PIX has (”sho ver”)
* make sure you have a backup of the old PIX OS and PDM to the tftp server (or at least confirm the software is there)
Note: You cannot back them up from the PIX, so you will need to download them and put them on the tftp server * put in a change control form
* once change controls confirms date/time do the upgrade:
wri mem*** only if you save your configs via tftp wri net conf t ca save all copy tftp://your tftp server ip/pix635.bin flash:imageskip this if you don't use pdm copy tftp://your tftp server ip/pdm-304.bin flash:pdm *** if this is a failover pair, upgrade the other pair reboot

SOURCE: Cisco ASA 5505 Firmware

Yes, it is possible and Yes you have to purchase it from Cisco.
Sorry, that is how they make the big bucks.
Consider a service contract on the unit, then you can download the firmware much cheaper.

SOURCE: Seems to have lost the existing firmware and will

you need to interupt the boot process, by using a console cable and interupt boot. Then do a serial download of a new image.

I cant test my 7941g because i keep getting a small bullseye on the bottom left corner of the screen

Your phone is trying to connect to a TFTP server address to download a firmware and/or config file update. You need to figure out what IP address it is trying to connect to (You may have to use wireshark or another packet sniffer to determine this).

Once you know the IP it is trying to connect to, you'll need to set up a small network with a TFTP server running on that same address, and feed the phone a firmware update and/or config file. It will likely not fully boot unless it gets a firmware update.

How to recovery from boot loop?

Are you familiar with wireshark or other packet sniffers? You might consider running wireshark on the network to see exactly what the phone is doing when it boots. It might be configured to connect to a TFTP server or something on boot, to look for a firmware or config file update.

My Cisco IP Phone 7945G keeps rebooting after I did a factory reset. Is there a way to fix this?

According to Cisco, when initiating a factory reset procedure certain information from the IP phone is erased while other information is reset to the factory default value, as shown in the list below:

Information Erased:
  • CTL File (Certificate Trust List)
  • LSC File (Locally Significant Certificate)
  • IP Phone Call History (Calls Received, Placed, Missed etc)
  • Phone application
Information Reset to Default:
  • User configuration settings (ring tone, screen brightness, sound levels etc)
  • Network configuration settings

t is highly advisable to follow the firmware upgrade procedure in a non-working environment to ensure other phones are not affected (in case of an accidental reboot), and to avoid the freshly factory reset ip phones obtaining the working environment's settings.

Please use the link below and follow the instruction http://www.firewall.cx/downloads/cisco-tools-a-applications/cisco-ip-phone-a-ata-firmware-downloads.html
