Philips is out of the original - best bet for finding it is to acquire a cheap/damaged model on Ebay with a working remote

I need to find the code for my sharp xl-mp130 component system to make my universal remote work

U get the code, if any, for your Sharp from the manufacturer of your universal remote. Be prepared for limited functionality.

Better yet, get another OEM remote from Sharp - get your wallet ready!

Micro Stereo mcd235b. What are remote codes?

Codes are stored in the remote. If you are using a Philips remote, you should be able to control your system directly. If you have a universal remote, you can use its "code search" (or equivalent) feature to find something that will work. If a search through all codes stored in the remote fails, you may have to try a different universal remote. All universal remotes do not have all possible codes.

My remote control does not work anymore for my JVC MXJ30 Stereo. How can I determine if I need to buy a new remote. The stereo works when I turn it on manually. However the CD player has stopped working....

There are a couple of things going on here.

The CD issue is, uh, common. They die. CD-cleaners are dubious at best.

For the remote, try this advice:

"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control
This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the
unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly. New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.
Special Note:
If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the unit.

eBay has some RM SMXJ30J remotes cheap. This one will set you back $11.50 delivered.

When i turn off my stereo, it turns back on in three seconds.i don't have the remote anymore. how do i get the stereo to stay turned off.i pushed the AUX button-but that didn't do anything and my step...

You can buy a universal remote that should work with your stereo - but it may not solve the problem.
If the latching system that hols the OFF setting is broken the remote software will probably not overide it,
Ask your step father to put his hand in his pocket to help you get a new/better one - everything changes in time!

Bose sounddock remote and ipod menu functions

Unfortunately I've never seen a universal remote that will control the extra functions of this. If it's the original SoundDock, you can only do: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan. If this is a SoundDock II or SoundDock Portable, you can only control: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan, and playlist up/ playlist down. Quite honestly, that's all I need to do on my SoundDock. I can't really read what's on my iPod from where I'm sitting in the first place. It may be possible to use a universal learning remote for this, but you'd have to teach commands from an apple remote as well as the bose remote, and the learning remote (+apple remote) may cost you over 1/3 the cost of the SoundDock. It also may not work perfectly. I hope this helps somewhat.

Just want codes for remote, i lost original and have universal remote it is an infrared remote control center, electronic input center

You can find the remote control codes for different brands of devices from

If none of the codes work then we have two other solutions:

1. Searching For Your Code

If you have tried all of the set-up codes for your brand of equipment ,or your brand is not listed, and you are still not able to get the unit to respond, try the following procedure to search for your code.
If you don't find a code that works, the remote will flash four times when you reach the end of all the codes for this device type.
  1. PRESS the button for the device you want to program, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER 9-9-1 (two blinks on the remote)
  4. ALTERNATE slowly between the POWER key and the DEVICE (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.) button until your device turns off. (On VCR, LD, and CD players use PLAY instead of POWER)
Make sure that the remote is pointed at your device during the search, You may have to press this sequences of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
  5. When your device turns OFF, PRESS the SETUP button and RELEASE it to lock in the code for your device.

2. Learn the buttons from the original

Line up your original remote and the head-to-head before completing the following steps.
  1. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice.
  2. PRESS 9 - 7 - 5, the red LED will flash twice.
  3. PRESS the DEVICE key where you wish to learn the function. The next 3 steps must be completed within 10 seconds.
  4. PRESS the button that will receive the learned function, the LED will flash rapidly.
  5. PRESS the button on the original remote to be learned.

Now you can repeat steps 3 through 5 to learn other functions onto other keys or press and hold SETUP until the Cinema's red light flashes twice to lock in your new feature. (If the red light does not blink twice, stop and repeat steps through 6).
To test the new feature, press and release the device key in which the new feature was learned followed by the key on which the feature was learned
