Question about Dell Computers & Internet
Hello everyone. I bought this new led monitor dell 2240l and whenever I start with a HDMI cable it shows green horizontal lines on the whole screen. I have sapphire radeon HD 7950 as gpu
First thing to try is another HDMI cable and see if this fixes the problem. Seen a bad cables way too many times...
Second: update your videocard to the latest drivers:
You can find the correct drivers @ AMD support. Click the link and choose the correct settings. Then click display results. Download & install.
Third thing you could try is another monitor. Even a new monitor can be broken. Not uncommon. If another monitor has a good image then return your new one and let them give you a good one

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Thanks for all the details..
The issue seems to be with the video card drivers here...
Go to www.hp.com/suport and download the latest video card and the chipset drivers
before you download ...uninstall the nvidia chipset or any display software from program and features.
after you have installed the software.. go to the nvidia control panel > setup multiple monitors. and browse throughout the options >
It should be dual display and not extended display.
Also try with a new user profile...
Hope this helps..

SOURCE: Display problem - Dell D600
Try re-installing the ATI Redeon graphics driver (video driver). If problem persist, I suspected its your video card is having a problem. I believe it is built in on your machine. So you need to replace a system board.
If machine is under warranty, no need to pay for the repairs.

Try reseating the LCD cable to the video card. If no change, then you will most likely need a replacement LCD (Roughly $150 on EBay)

See if this happens outside of windows, when you first start up the computer, press f2 on the dell logo to get to setup. See if the green line happens here. Next, if possible, hook up an external monitor to the laptop and see if the green line is present on the external monitor. If the problem is present on the external monitor, you have a motherboard (or video card) issue. If the problem does not happen on an external monitor, but only on the LCD of the notebook, you have an LCD problem. You could probably get inside and try reseating the display cable. Here's the caveat, though. If your system is 2 months old, most likely it's under warranty. If you damage it by taking it apart, that is not covered by warranty. Your best bet is to try the few simple steps that I outlined and contact dell tech support, explain to them what you have done, and they should be able to set up a warrantied service call for the repair.
