Question about InFocus Proxima DP9270 Multimedia Projector

Open Question

My Proxima DP9270 starts to turn on, when I look into the lens I can see the Proxima logo that should be displayed on the wall but then after a second, before the image is projected the logo disappears, and then the yellow light for ready goes out. Then the main fan in the back comes on and it is really loud. Does this mean that the bulb is burnt out? How can I tell if I don't have another machine to try it in?

SOURCE: Projector Lamp seems to go out after a few seconds to 1 minute

I encounter like this problem before only i change bulb and clean the circuit board including the fan and do resoldering work's in the circuit board due cold solder and then its fine.I think this desame to your problem too.Cold solder issues - each component is soldered into small holes on the printed circuit board which in turn connects said component to the other components. Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be cracked or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally connected (hanging by a thread). When the unit turns on heat would be generated which would be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no longer provides electrical contact. Jarring the unit creates movement inside enough to re establish the contact, sometime good enough sometimes not enough.

Again, since the unit still operates (sometimes) then it is highly probable that there are no defective components. As you have surmised, it is possibly a loose connection, solder joints are "connections" except that molten soldering lead is used to attach/connect the component to the board, "loose connection" in this sense is equal to "cold solder".

Again on the assumption of no defective parts, then seeking a more experienced buddy for the soldering might be to your advantage. This is of course in addition to the possible electrical hazards when repairing....

Good luck:

DP9270 will not focus after bulb replacement.

I see two possibilities:
1 The new bulb is a different size (glass part longer or shorter) than the original.
2 The bulb is not fitted in the socket correctly.
Both of these situations will place the actual bulb filament closer or further from the focusing lens, hence out of focus.

Hi,
Projectors are designed to be used with a lamp and will turn off when there isn't one present. You would have to purchase a new lamp to use the projector.

I get a temp warning on start up and then just shuts down only one fan seems to be working the one next to the lens dose the bottom fan only come on at certain temp. or are both fans supposed to run all...

first blow out any dust out of the projector with canned air. duat holds in heat. if the other fan is supposed to come on at first and doesn't, you would get a fan warning, not a temp warning.

Have an old proxima, adjusted the focus and still the display is a little fuzz Is it new bulb time?

Phoned the Infocus people and they said, the len was out of place. Len repair in this case would be costly. Could buy a newer projection unit for the price of the repair with great amount of lumens than the current proxima unit. Yet if anyone, knows of a cheap fix, please post it.

Acer LCD Monitor only displays "acer" logo

You are correct, it could be a power surge that has caused it.

Try this..
Unplug the monitor from the wall.
Remove all the video connections at the monitor end.
Wait 10 minutes then plug the monitor back into the wall (do not connect the video leads)

Turn it on and see if it goes past the ACER logo now. If so, replace the video cables and try the computer.
If not, then one of these will apply and a tech will be required..
  1. The internal bios has been corrupted.
  2. The power supply inside the monitor may have issues preventing the video board from starting correctly. This could be as simple as a few failing capacitors.
Number 2 is the most likely cause with an Acer monitor though. Any local tech will be able to correct it fairly cheaply, but phone around for quotes..they can vary a lot.
