Question about Kodak Easyshare Z5010 14MP Digital Camera

1 Answer

How do I unlock pictures?

My camera has some locked pictures that are "unrecognizable file formats" and I don't know how to unlock them to delete them. It's in the internal memory, not the memory card.

Using the supplied USB, plug the camera in to your computer. Locate the DCIM folder once your computer recognizes the device. Locate those files that have been altered on the internal memory and erase them with your computer.

This is the best way to go about it.

Testimonial: "The DCIM folder isn't coming up, and it's saying I only have 28MB of space available out of 98MB when there are only 20 clear pictures in the camera....it's not showing the "unrecognized" photos for me to unlock/delete them."

What does card protected mean?

Wheb you have a SD, SDHC or SDXC memory card and you put the switch to the lock position, the card is protected, That means nothing can change the files that are stored on the card. Not by wiring, not by deleting and not by formatting. Keep the lock with up, towards the golden connection points.
On the picture the 64 GB card is unlocked. `the 32 GB card is locked 8ab871eb-243a-48dd-a8d8-58e5df95d568.jpg

Camera says out of memory won't let me take pictures. i cleared all the pictures out and still cant take pictures. What do you think the problem is?

I'm assuming you are trying to use an SD card in your camera and not the internal memory. I suggest you format the memory card if you are sure there is nothing on the card. Formatting the memory card deletes everything on the card and sets it up with a file system that your camera recognizes. Follow these steps to format your memory card using your camera. 1. Turn camera off 2. Insert memory card 3. Turn camera on 4. When the memory card is inserted in the camera, the [Format card] option appears in the setup menu 5. Choose Format to format the entire card. Don't choose Quick Format 6. Wait until your card is formatted
After formatting your memory card, try turning your camera off and on and you should now be able to take pictures to your memory card.
P.S. If you remove your memory card you can choose Format Memory from the setup menu to format the camera's built-in internal memory

Memory card locked

Hi Thanks for your question.

SOLUTION 1 - Unlock the memory card.

There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.

SOLUTION 2 - Toggle the lock switch.

If the lock switch is not on lock:
1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.
3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card.
4. Try to transfer files into the device.

For non-SD cards: Format the card

The data on the memory card may be corrupted.

WARNING: Formatting will delete all the files in the device. Backup all your data before formatting.

Thank You for using FixYa.

Try this:...go into the menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions to return the camera to factory default settings. Then, download any pics from the memory card that you want to save. Use a separate card reader if necessary. Then, with the card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions. Let me know how this works for you.

Unrecognizable file format

In your camera settings menu, there is probably an option for you to switch the different kinds of file formats that the pictures are saved onto your memory card as.

Your memory card might not support certain file types.
