You either have a bad carburetor or you didn't put it together right when you rebuilt it. double check the diaphragm is on top of the gasket on the metering side. if the needle is stuck open the fuel will continue to flow causing it to come out the muffler

Make sure you rebuilt the carb with a carb kit. Put a hose on each pipe coming out of the carb and blow and suck on them. One should seal completely and one should provide vacuum. If there is a leak, you need new check valves. If you rotate the trimmer and it runs poorly, you may have a pierced diaphragm.

I have a older jiffy I have gas that comes out of the muffler is that a carb problem.

Could well be the needle valve leaking in the carb, or if you have been cranking the engine for some time and it has not started this will also pull fuel into the engine and blow out of the muffler, a pressure test of the carb will quickly tell you if the needle is leaking.

the other possibilities you have is a bad crank seal, or a flywheel came loose and its out of time, will it fire on carb cleaner sprayed in the carb, If it runs for seconds and , then I would say it's not getting fuel, If it only farts once or twice then I would check crank seals cause if they are leaking then your crankcase cannot draw vacumn which in turn causes fuel pump in carb to draw fuel, If you have to check flywheel pull it apart and take flywheel nut off and pull flywheel off and inspect the key that is built into flywheel to see if it is sheared off or messed up, also while checking muffler check for the opening that the mud dobbers havent put mud in muffler pipe, good luck

No power

Try to remove the muffler and try it with no muffler but DO NOT run the machine for too long without muffler or you can damage the piston rings . Try to rev it up only once and if it works you have a internal blocked muffler . Replace the muffler and you should be good .
