If it is the typical worn motor and the scooter is over 5 years old you are better off buying a new scooter.
Gears rarely go bad unless they were overloaded. It's usually the motor that wears out and is intermittent before it goes.

Mid sixties Ford 4000. Suddenly decided to make severe grinding noise when trying to engage gears and cannot engage gears. Weirdly this does not always happen. Gears engage OK when engine not running

Hello, you may have more success in the proper category of lawn or farm stuff. Fortunately I have same Tractor. Sounds like clutch fork is not moving clutch the same way each time you press clutch. Could be clutch needs play removed. Sometimes there is a pivot ball for the clutch fork to rest on. When the pivot ball is worn the clutch fork can rock. Also remember RPM to give gears time to stop spinning before changing gears.

02 accent slave cylinder leak and gear grind

Does the car want to pull when sitting still in gear with your foot on the clutch? If so, I would say that your clutch is not fully engaging and could be the cause of your grinding when changing gears. If not then I would think the clutch is operating fully and the synchros are worn and need replaced. But either way, with metalic fluid being in the slave cylinder dust boot, the slave cylinder needs changed.

New gear shift lever fitted, now cant get it out of low box when low gear is engaged without turning off the engine, grates loudly.

Gear shift grommets/bushings may be worn or not aligned properly. If grinding, gear is not fully engaged. Check above items to correct, if doesn't correct, may have transmittion problem.

How do i fix an outboard motor that jumps out of reverse gear when poweris applied

thee are gear cable adjustment that ensure complete engagement of the drive dog in the leg
If it properly adjusted then you will have to pull te leg off and dissemble the gear box and fit new gears and a dog clutch
because it is a straight engagement into square segments and the engine shaft is running it hits and misses until it eventually engages
over time instead of square segments they become tapered and so will slip back out of gear under load
the operator will normally be at fault as the engagement should be at low idle with a sharp movement of the selector lever

Starter not turning over engine

Does it engage and keep turning or does it engage and stop? This is critical to what is causing the problem. However regardless of what is causing the problem, the starter motor is going to have to be removed. It could be that the gear splines are not aligned properly, so that the starter gear is not fully engaging.

Will not go into first gear when going down the gears

I will answer this as if it is a manual gear box as the solution will be different for an automatic.
First gear has a syncro ring energise spring that when pushed against the syncro cone in the gear spins the gear to the relevant shaft speed so that engagement is smooth. Because of the vast difference of the shaft speeds when engaging 1st gear the energising doesn't get a chance to work and so the gears refuse to mesh. To possible ways to get around this is to keep the road speed low say around 10mph or less or increase the engine rpm up to around 3500-4000rpm before trying to engage 1st gear. Basically the syncro is for engaging the gear as you are coming to a stop or going very slow . Check the drain plug magnet for metal as the clutch shaft bearing may be moving forward and preventing the engagement properly.

PTO engages, but, keeps becoming disengaged on LT1042.

Cub Cadets have one of two types of PTOs. The most common is gear driven. The gear teeth of the PTO shaft are very small and thin. If the PTO is engaged without proper clutch action, the gear teeth grind together, trying to engage. A little wear on these gears will cause the surface of the gears to become beveled, and when the PTO comes under load, the beveled surfaces of the gear teeth force the gear lock to disengage. The only option is to replace the worn gears...

The second type of PTO drive is electric clutch. This is a disc type clutch that is engaged by energizing an electromagnet built into the clutch pack... any disruption of electrical power to the clutch pack while under load will cause the clutch to disengage and then possibly try to engage while under load and casues the clutch pack to slip and will overheat almost instantly...

Reverse on my gmc envoy not working

This can be due to few reasons but the most important can be as follows:

1. If can be a mis-alignment of the gear lever to the gear box as normally the reverse gear is always engage with more movement . so a change of postion or setting can alter the notch settings and refuse to engage properly.
2. Secondly the fault within the gear box, if there is a linkage or counter wheel/gear setting within it will not mesh or engage as the setting would be altered.
3. finally gaps or bush failures in the gear lever, linkages or the gear box will make the movement restricted and hence not engage.
You need to check on all the above. Thank You.

How do i use the 4wd

Hi,

Bring your vehicle to a full and complete stop. The system will not properly engage if the vehicle is moving.

Shift the vehicle into first gear, second gear, or reverse before engaging the 4-wheel-drive system. The system is limited based on the speed of the vehicle, and these gears are within the speed range of the system's capabilities.

For Honda piliot, engage the VTM-4 system by pressing the VTM-4 Lock button on your Pilot's dashboard. The button will illuminate to confirm that the system is engaged.

I hope this helps.
