SOURCE: Trying to install vista 32 bit on my Gateway DX

Vista will have the drivers necessary to identify SATA/AHCI controllers, built-in by default. It would not be necessary to turn the AHCI mode 'off' or to 'ATA' mode (unless you get a 7B or inaccessible boot device BSOD). Check if your system has a RAID configuration, in which case there may be a 3rd party supplied RAID driver that you need to install first. Also, check if the HDD cables are connected properly & the HDD is detected in the BIOS (System setup screen) first.

Does it boot? Get into bios and change the hard drive type to whatever it is not. If it's ide set it to ahci, sata, etc. Don't set it to raid.

Windows won't start up? Well, try this Download Tenorshare Data Recovery from its offical site and install it. Burn it into CD/DVD, or USB flash, put into the computer you need to repair, Bios setting. It can make sure your important data will not lose. Best of luck

Acer aspire 5515 blue screen

hi
yes it may be related to bios setting . Just enter your bios in the laptop (F2)
and for HD change the SATA to ATA or vice-versa. SAVE and retry boot.

(it can also be AHCI to ATA or ATA to AHCI.)

Can not get it installed on Note Book computer

You should go to BIOS and set "mapped as AHCI" to SATA/IDE mode". Find any information regarding AHCI, SATA/ID mode or anything like that on your BIOS. then try to install Windows XP Home Edition

Why my gateway i can't install with windows xp

Is it an SATA HDD? If so, did you press F6 at the very beginning of the XP installation & install the SATA drivers?
or Boot into the BIOS and see if you have an option to use AHCI as a setting for your drive.

Sata hard drive installed.. but windows setup wont detected it.

Assuming you are trying to install xp on a vista machine, you need to go into the bios and either turn off the ahci function or select IDE as the function (each manufacturer may vary slightly as to the verbage).

Downgrading from vista to xp

First, you can only legally install XP if you have a Vista Business or Vista Ultimate licence (COA label).
Enter BIOS Setup menu by pressing F2 or DEL before it boots - look for prompt on the screen.
Then look for a setting for the hard disk like:
IDE Setting: Enhanced AHCI.

You do not want AHCI - change it to 'compatible' so that AHCI is not shown. Then save and exit.
If you have AHCI set the XP will crash with 0x0000007b STOP error
