They design the drum to handle things like that... so long at nothing sharp sticks up and cuts the clothes that are being washed. It is only a noise issue.

SOURCE: front load washer

Hitchhiker, you don't have to remove the front of the washer. The original boot was glued in areas around the door. They came out with a new design because of water leakage on the bottom. The new kit, part number 5303937187 comes with a spring that holds it on to the panel. You can do one or two things, if you don't have the leaking problem, glue the boot back on. Or you can order the new kit, it comes with instructions and replace the whole boot. Check it out, it might be covered under service flash #26-758BR. In any event this job can be done by leaning the washer back against the wall to make room between the tub and front panel. You are going to need an assist, it's better with 2 people. SOURCE: My front load washer has a load clunk when the

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description "My front load washer has a load clunk when the drum is spinning. If I spin it by hand I can still hear it. I took the back off and it sounds like coming from inside the drum"
my first suspicion would be a worn tub bearing, unfortunately all too common with those Frigidaire.

The tub bearing is likely worn, or the inner tub has broken apart.

You can check this by way of opening the door and grabbing the inner basket rim and moving up and down to feel for play...there should be zero play or zero tolerance in this bearing.

Second, since you`ve removed the back panel, grab the large pulley and try and move it back and forth or spin it with the belt off to listen for a grinding noise.

If it is indeed worn it will require practically the complete tub assembly ( rear wall with bearing and inner basket )...that is the least expensive and easiest fix at around $400 for the entire assembly.

example...

You can opt to change just the rear wall and bearing with the basket in separate pieces, but it comes in around $370 and still leaves you with pulling the old one apart to re-use the front shell.

Either way this is a fairly involved repair and even for an experienced tech like myself can take 60 - 90mins.

Let me know what you find and I'll do what I can to assist you.

Good luck. Thank you for choosing FixYa.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Clinking sound in a Siemens WFXD5200UC/01 front loading washer

I would suggest that a small thin metal item has got into the outer drum unit. This is the space between the internal spinning drum and the outer casing. This can sometimes happen by the object passing between the rubber door seal and the drum. Not easy to get out, however if it is small enough it may eventually find its way into the pump filter trap. There is a small round cover plate at the bottom right hand side of the machine. Behind the cover is the filter trap, open it up (when machine empty) and check for the object every so often. To open the filter turn the plug cover about a third anticlockwise and it should release. Pull gentle on the plug to remove from the machine.

Samsung washer WF328AAW/XAA metal pieces in hose?

Could be a number of things. Either something foreign was left in a pocket (Coins are the most common object) and has come out in the wash. The coin rattles around and falls in between the tubs through the gap in the front gasket. When this happens, the coin can hit the bracket which holds the heater element in place and tears it off. This causes a lot of damage. Most Samsung have plastic outer bowls and often, the tub will be split and a leak will start from underneath. Lastly, it could be the drum main shaft and spider assembly. This is what holds the spin tub into the machine. If this fails, bits of metal will come off. Usually seen as bits of corroded aluminium that get stuck in the pump and hoses. When this happens, the tub usually goes loose and the machine makes a horrible grinding and banging noise when spinning. I would say that if this has happened , its time for a new machine.

Hello Edie, thank you for your inquiry!

Generally speaking, since your washer and dryer are two separate units the dryer would need to be remove in order to access the washer. This will also help prevent any personal injuries. I do hope this information proves to be helpful.

Best regards.

Noise from machine

1.check if the bra wire is poking out of one of the drums.Check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.

2.clear the water pump from obstractions like coins or small objects there might be some coins stuck in it that are causing discomfort.

if all the above fails try to run the motor alone without the belt if you still hear the noise its the motor that has a problem

My washer will not spin!!!!!!!!

If water remains in the drum the unit will not go into the final spin. There may be a couple of reasons which I have experienced resulting in your problem. If water remains in the tub the unit will not go into the high speed spin.

1.) A coin or other foreign object could block the drain hose. Check the drain hose for foreign objects impeding the exit of the water. Shake the hose and listen for coins or a small object this unit will pass items through the pump into the hose causing blockage.

2.) The Drain hose is not raised above the machine outlet to create a siphon effect. See your manual for proper hose positioning. The hose needs to have a loop in it to work correctly.

3.) The pump is a third possibility which you should hear the impeller spinning during the drain cycle. There is a coin catch before the pump that looks like a rubber boot that should be inspected for objects if you remove the pump. The pump is about $60.00 and is accessible after removing the front panel under the door. It is easy access from the front and the hose clamps will be the most difficult problem. I have a ratcheting hose clamp tool designed for this type of clamp but channel lock pliers or vice grips will work.

If the washer will not agitate during the wash cycle you will need to remove the back panel to inspect the belt and spider pulley. You will also notice a counter weight at the top of the tub. Make sure the counter weight is tight and is not loose to prevent future problems.

Kenmore HE2Plus washer. It sounds like a pin or other metal object may have fallen through the holes of the drum. You can hear it roll around when you spin the drum. Is there any way to remove it without...

Overfilling loads can cause small objects like pins, coins, and small socks to get between the tub abd Basket of your washer.

The basket is held onto the rear half of the outer tub simply by the bolt to the main pulley.
Remove the bolt, remove the pulley, and the basket shaft should slip right out of the bearings of
the rear tub.

Simply shining a light around between the basket and outer tub should confirm that there is something in there, since you have access to do this with
the front tub removed. Go ahead, remove the pulley and bolt, and if
the basket comes out, then check everything out.

If it doesn't, don't try pounding it out; stop there and go to plan B, which is a new basket
and tub assembly.
