It's not the temperature controls as I've played with them. I think the freon needs to be replace but I can't find anything that tells me how to do it.

Unplugged frig overnite once I plugged back in made a gurgeling sound whenever I opened the door what would that be?

Usually that is caused by a bad defrost heater thermostat or defrost timer. Failure to automatically defrost is the cause of freezing up.
If you don't feel up to doing the work yourself you should have an appliance repair shop look at it.

The gurgling is caused by water in the catch pan under the fridge. When you defrosted it some of the water made it into the drip pan (and maybe overflowed onto the floor). The fan inside the compressor area under and behind the freezer may be splashing in the excess water in the drip pan. This by itself is not a real problem since it is designed to automatically evaporate the water drained during automatic defrosting, but the excess water and potential overflow onto the floor can become a problem.

This frigidaire (side by side) only blows warm air on both sides

Good day,
First, I would unplug the machine, and then unplug the ice maker. Wait 20 minutes and plug in refrigerator. See if it cools without the ice maker in the equation.
Sounds more like starting components on the compressor, or a compressor starting to fail.
Post back with results.
Thank you.

Not blowing cold air

unplugged the unit, kept the doors closed about 10 to 12 hours plugged back in and in about 2 hours started blowing cold air into freezer another 4 hours was blowing cold air into refrigerator and continuily got back to the themostat settings, about 1 day. no food was lost because the doors were closed still keeping it cold. i think the fan in the freezer was frozen with ice,but could access it, not the main fan in the back the unit by the compressor, that was running fine. so basically i defrosted the freezer fan by unplugging it. this is the 2nd time in 4 years ive done this, well it beats spending 1000-1500 dollars to replace it TRY IT I HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU BEFORE YOU CALL FOR SERVICE,dave

Frigidaire Side By Side Not Cooling

That sounds like the start relay is buzzing. Unplug and lets check the compressor to see how hot and if too hot to hold your hand on the top of compressor we need to leave it unplugged until we find out if the start relay, start capacitor, overload or if the condenser fan stops after running a short while. Blows warm air, unpluged it for 2 days plugged back in blew very

Either the start relay and start capacitor or the Adaptive Defrost control is burned out. If you have a voltage meter we can test a few things like the compressor and the capasitor. The part number for the Adaptive defrost is 241508001 and found inside the fresh food compartment behind the control panel. I can help you locate the problem if you like. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Freezer not freezing frig not cold

the compressor with a picture of an Indian, its a techumseh. Is the compressor running? If not, could be stuck in defrost mode. Since you have looked at the compressor, there is two lines that go to it. If there is an oil cooler, then 4. Follow the line, smaller of the two that goes to the condensor, rad. With the fridge running, use your hand to feel how hot it is, if you find it hot enough that you can't leave you hand on that line, then its an inneficient compressor.

Frig just not Cold

Check to see if air is blowing into refrigerator compartment. If no air is blowing. It may be that the settings on your dials are not right. If they are and air is not blowing, your evaporator fan is not working,or may be obstructed.

you might have had freon leak out from it sitting unplugged how long were you gone ? plus you need to wait atleast 30 minutes when you unplug your refigerator then plug it back in you cannot keep plugging it on and off it will burn up the compressor / relay overload
