Apparently MS in their infinite wisdom decided that in vista they would take the power away from the user and remove the administrator from the equation.
So no matter how many thing your try in the user accounts you will not get full admin rights.
but here is a reg hack that worked for me real well. I am running windows vista home basic

Click Start and Run type in regedit and enter
your now at the registry editor.
click and expand HKEYLOCALMACHINE
go down and click SOFTWARE
click MICROSOFT
click WINDOWS
click CURRENTVERSION
click POLICIES
click SYSTEM
you will see the registry entries to the right
right click in the white area and select new DWORD
Name it "EnableLinkedConnections" and enter
Right Click on EnableLinkedConnections and choose MODIFY change the Data Value to "1"
Save and exit Registry Editor
Reboot your computer and try deleting the folder you wanted to again.

WARNING:
Using this reg edit you are changing your registry and could develop problems if you don't do it correctly. Be Warned and do some research prior if you need to understand registry editor.

How to resolve Communication Failures with Dell printers

Those who use Dell printers are not unaware to Communication Failure issues with Dell printers. This article help you with just the same.
The problem could be because of ONE out of FIVE problems listed below. Try the steps recommended and it should fix the problem.
  • Cable Issue: It could be a possible issue with the cable. Try replacing the USB cable.
  • Drivers Issue: Try uninstalling the printer drivers using the utility http://ftp.us.dell.com/printer/R166248.zip. Be sure to disconnect the printer from the computer before proceeding with the un-installation. Then download the Printer drivers from the Dell support website. Use the link: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx. Select your printer model or enter your printer Service Tag and save the drivers for your corresponding Operating System. Next, install them on your machine and follow the onscreen instructions while installation. Also, DO NOT forget to update your computer's chipset drivers before this. This ensures that the USB drivers for your motherboard are updated too. If you fail to update the chipset drivers, you may have to flash your system BIOS to the latest version available.
  • UAC issue: If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, a feature called User Access Control (UAC) would block the printer communication. Disable it, and it should work. Use the linkhttp://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm for tips on how to disable UAC.
  • Print Spooler Service Error: Either the service is stopped or not started correctly. Try restarting the printer spooler services on your computer. For tips on how to restart the Print Spooler service, use the link: http://www.ehow.com/how_2319117_restart-print-spooler-xp.html
  • Firewall Issue: Maybe your firewall is blocking the connection to your printer. Try allowing access to all applications related to Dell or printer or communication systems under Program Permissions in your Firewall program.
Thanks,
Abhishek

Windows 7 Tip#4

Modify UAC

The User Account Control security feature was one of the most reviled additions to Windows Vista, with good reason -- its constant warning messages asking for permission to continue many operations drove users around the bend. UAC has been significantly improved in Windows 7 so that it's not as intrusive as in Vista, but you can still tweak it if you like.

Here's how to turn UAC on or off, and make it less or more intrusive than the default:

1. Go to the Control Panel --> User Accounts and Family Safety.

2. Click User Accounts, then click Change User Account Control settings.

3. From the screen that appears, use the slider to select the level of protection you want. Here are the four levels and what they mean:

Always notify me. Think of this as UAC Classic. It works like Vista's UAC: When you make changes to your system, when software is installed or when a program tries to make a change to your system, an annoying prompt appears.

Default -- Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer. This is, obviously, the default; make a change yourself and UAC leaves you alone. When a program makes a change, a prompt appears and your desktop goes dark, just like it does in Vista. Otherwise, UAC sits there silently.

Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer (do not dim my desktop). This setting is identical to the default setting, with one difference: It won't dim your desktop so that you only see the UAC prompt asking you to take action. This presents a slightly elevated security risk over the default setting, because theoretically a program could allow a malicious program to interfere with the UAC prompt.

Never notify me when: In this one, UAC is completely turned off. This is, of course, an insecure option and not recommended for most users.

After you make the selection, click OK. Depending on the selection you made, you may need to restart your system for it to take effect.

Iomega keeps asking me to get permission from administrator how do I go about getting that

One way is to disable UAC (user account control). Best done only if you use the comuter.
To do this, Go to Control Panel / user accounts ( check you are an administrator), then in the bottom of the box, click on "turn user control on or off", Click continue then uncheck the UAC in the checkbox, click OK then restart.

This way might also work for you:
In my computer, right click on the external drive, and choose properties, security, advanced. Then edit the permission entry that covers users, or the specific user to whom you want to give access, such that their permission type is full control.

I cannot access my transcend Elite software as my computer says publisher unknown. What do I do?

This is what I researched on the Microsoft support page. It seems that you have a issue with what is called the UAC (User Account Control>
Here is the explanation: this is from the KB article.
Explaining the User Account Control (UAC) technology
User Account Control (UAC) was a new security-feature and technology introduced first in Windows Vista™ and later migrated and added to Windows® 7.

The way UAC works: When we execute a normal program, UAC first checks if that program has keywords like "setup", "install", "update" etc, using the UAC Installer Detection Technology (IDT) (If is a setup.exe then elevate). UAC also checks the programs manifest file for the "requireAdministrator" tag added in its manifest configuration, if that is found, UAC will then go to the next step. When UAC has confirmed the first step, UAC will check if that program is
blocked by policy or if the programs publisher is blocked, when UAC successfully confirms that it goes to the next step.

When UAC has confirmed the first two steps, it then checks if the publisher of that program is "Windows®" it's self, but in our case it isn't so UAC goes to the next step and checks for a regular publisher. If the publisher is verified (this means also that the program has a valid digital signature) then UAC will prompt with a gray background and gold shield icon: "The application is Authenticode signed and trusted by the local computer".

UAC in Windows® 7: UAC under Windows® 7 is basically the same, except that they done some "small" modifications. But, still the same rules apply in Windows® 7 as in Windows Vista™.

The modern programs under UAC restrictions
Modern applications/programs that run under UAC restrictions have their power to become "trusted"-apps. Programs like Google Chrome or other (e.g. Avast Antivirus, Mozilla FireFox or any other), are put into trusted directories (e.g. C:\Program Files\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\), and they are of course signed with a digital signature [For example: A signature from the VeriSign Time Stamping CA].

Please contact the manufacturer
You will need updated driver set for your External USB storage device usually found at the manufacturers site. You can disable the UAC but this is not recommended.

After loading windows 7 when I try to open magix movie edit pro 15 plus I get a message you don't have manager privilages or some thin like that. It seems that the serial number is not working is this...

Hello

OK, it sound to me like you don't have administrative privileges.
Try starting the program as an administrator. Here is how you do it.

1. Press and hold Ctrl+Shift while opening the program.

2. If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes to apply permission to allow the program to run with full permission as an Administrator.
NOTE: If you are doing this is while logged in as standard user instead of an administrator, then you will need to provide the administrator's password before the program will run as administrator.

Let me know if this works, otherwise we can try something else.

Kind regards
Andrea

Internet problem

Most likely your UAC (User Account Control) is preventing you from running the program. You should receive a prompt asking for permission to run thr program unless you've inadvertenly given Vista control to block access to add on programs. It's possible to disable UAC (temporarily or permanantly) by doing the following Start/ControlPanel/Security/SecurityCenter click on "Other Security Settings" to turn off UAC. You should then be able to run the desire program (make sure u trust the program you're installing). You can always repeat the process to enable UAC after.
