Hi Bob,
Are you getting any errors on the next start up? Have you checked any of the log files? I have a few PC's that do the same thing but it's inherent to the system. You can check in the BIOS to see if there is a thermal setting and adjust your fan that way if applicable.

My fan gets loud and then the computer shuts down. very irritating. How do I clean the fan? How do I get the casing off to get to the fan?

that varies. you'll have to tell me what kind computer it is. as to cleaning methods, use canned air, NOT air from a air compressor. The difference is that the air from air compressors tends to havemoisture in it. Don't forget to rate

My computer will not shut down when i shut down the light stays on and makes a loud disk loading sound which does not stop

It could mean your power supply is about to go. Unplug it and reboot the computer when you get into windows look for power options in the control panel ! Set it to a different scheme such as always on. Then try shutting down to see if it works.

My XPS 200 keeps shutting down and power light blinks

During when does your computer shutdown? Please check the diagnostic lights at the back as well which ones have light on it during the time it would shutdown.

Since you said that the light is blinking yellow it just says that your power supply is running outside its normal operating range. So most likely you would need a change of power supply. Maybe a higher wattage would be better.

My cpu fan will not shut off it is so loud should i replace the fan or is there a way to repair this problem

Your CPU fan should always be on while the computer is on. If it's off, your computer is going to crach in a matter of time. The noise is normal. If it's to loud, replace the fan. Nothing major. But it is normal for the fan to be loud. Thats a good sign it's cooling the CPU. But you can get a shfter 1. Your computer might over heat though. Good luck.

Shut down problem

Try getting in through Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key while the computer is booting.

If you can get in.

Right click on My Computer, select Properties, click Advanced, click on Settings for Startup and Recovery. Make sure there is NOT a check in the Automatically Restart box.

Systems shuts off if sound gets too loud.

Yes, i had this same problem. If it was too loud, at level 37+, any loud boom would shut down the subwoofer, subsequently shutting down the speakers. As such, I figured it might have been the 8 pin dim cable, but that wasn't it. What solved the problem was lowerin the BASS level. Not the level on the subwoofer, but the actual BASS level. I had it at +10 (the max) and it was too much for the system to handle. I don't think I ever had it like that so I'm assuming someone, maybe my daughters, moved the settings. But anyway, moving the bass level back down to either 0 or +3 at most maintains the "boom" effect of the subwoofer minus the shutting off of the system.
