Question about Sony UPDR150 Thermal Photo Printer

1 Answer

I have bought another Sony DR 150 PRINTER second hand. When I print with this printer, my prints are coming out much lighter, not as good a colour as my old printer. Any causes for this?

SOURCE: it only prints a 6x1"

Sony printers are masterpeices when it comes to digital printing as they produce wonderful quality images.
If you got a new printer and it does the same thing this indicates that the problem iis emanating from the software with which you use in editing the pictures before sending the print command. Somewhere along the line some adjustment must have been made to the software relating to the alignment of the picture on the printer. Once this adjustment is corrected your printer will print fine.
Printers are devices which prints what command was sent to them and do not have any intelligence to act or edit documents on their own accord.
Hope this solution has been helpful?
Happy new year

SOURCE: UPDR150 Thermal Photo Printer: My Sony UPD-150 is printing on only 3/4 of the 5X7...

One of the pins is bent. Its not closing completely so when it prints the heads are not touching the media evenly causing this effect. We have four of these printers and have seen this before. You need to take some pliers and straighten the bent pin in the door to match the one on the opposite side. These pins are located near the top edges of the printer door.

I bought a new Oki C610 a couple of months ago to start up a custom art business. From the beginning, the DCT 4.5 paper has stuck to the fuser roller. With the first fuser cartridge, it just dog-earred on...

Hi my reply was too long heres the second half..and ill retype the first as a comment

Try printing lighter prints, heavy toner saturation causes paper to stick to fusers and try to keep leading edge of print blank with no big blobs of colour for the same reason, ensure page sizes are set correctly in driver and machine tray settings and dont print outside margins , if you are about to print outside margins your printer driver should warn you, dont click ok if it does

Here is your user manual for your oki. and a link to oki print drivers to suit 610

Here is a link to Magic touch Australia that i thought has some good info re transfer paper use

Ensure your printer works ok with plain paper so we know it aint a printer fault but I'd say it due to how we are feeding the paper and how we have the paper type set and not feeding out the rear as I also think we should be.

Oki does the best colour prints nice and glossy, I dont think many come close to such great colour prints in fact I only like Oki and Kyocera stuff in Colour toner laser machines. Stear clear of cheap non oki toners and supplies because they cause heaps of issues and wreck printers and give many print quality issues, I dont work for OKI directly just telling you how it is in the field ;)

Let me know if you need more help and how you go

Cheers
Steve

Coming up with right hand cartridge incorrect it a nearly new cartridge have unpluged and left in for 30 seconds still the same have cleaned the contacts. It printed two sheets then said that it was using...

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.
Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage. Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head. Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now If that does not work then follow the next step.
Remove the printer data cable & restart the PC & printer. Then fit back the data cable & turn on the printer. Hope that's start working , if no luck then Uninstall the printer driver & restart the PC & Printer both again. Now install the driver of the printer and connect it with PC ,Turn on printer & go for a test print from the printer preference. Thanks & waiting for your reply.

I have installed a new black and colour ink cartridge but it is only printing in black and blue- why is this?

Your printer head might be blook. For the reason all the colour of ink does not come out through the printer head nozzels. In this condition you should try to come out ink through ink nozzels. procedure
1. print a nozzel cheak. and see what colour does'nt come out.
2. Now open photoshop and take a a4 page and fill it with six colour and print it 5/6 time in a photo paper. If print does not improve call me again. I will give you second tecnique.
Thank you.

Printed colours doesn't match with monitor colours

Here is a list of reasons why colours on electronic designs might differ from printed designs:
  • Monitors work in the RGB (Red,Green,Blue) colour space while printers use the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) colour space.
Designs look fine on a monitor if they are designed in RGB to begin with. Converting them to CMYK might make them look odd on screen, but they will print correctly, to a certain measure. It is difficult to sign of an image file that is currently in CMYK mode while viewing with an RGB monitor.
  • Monitor settings differ.
The designer was sitting in a darkish room when choosing the blue and his blue looks vibrant. The client was viewing the same design in a well-lit room, making the blue seem lighter. The designer uses an LCD display and the client uses a CRT monitor and the vibrancy differs. The contrast and saturation settings on each monitor might differ as well, rendering the blue with different values.
  • Each printer in the world prints colour slightly different.
Sometimes it is really obvious and sometimes it is almost impossible to see the difference. Normal desktop printers are definitely not something to do colour proofing with. If you print the design out on your desktop printer then a slight shortage on any of the colours will make the colour come out wrong. There are a lot of factors that can influence even the most expensive printing equipment. These include altitude, humidity, the current heat of the printer, age of the printer, quality of ink, the paper that is being used, special coatings on the paper etc. Even viewing the same printed material in different lighting conditions may make the colour seem different.
Tips on getting the most accurate colour
Go to your nearest printer company and ask to see their Pantone colour matching system. Each colour in the Pantone chart has a matching number. Most design applications have the same Pantone charts built in so that colour matching is easy. Read up on Pantone at Wikipedia. Make sure that the file is converted to CMYK (If not designed in it originally) before sending it to print. Some printer companies might ask for colour separation prints which the leading design packages can produce. It is also important for the designer to choose the correct colour management profile in the design package.

C4200 Not printing black ink, which is new

Its purely your CATRIDGE problem...so please open up your printer and check for the two small black colored boxes..in that you can easily identify the B/W one....so if its lighter in weight compared to that of coloured one....you need to refill it or buy a new catridge......THIS is the only solution to this problem..

Using far too much ink

This came from brothers website:

The Yellow ink cartridge yield is up to 300 pages @ 600 x 150 dpi when printing at 5% coverage on A4 sized paper.
The Magenta ink cartridge yield is up to 300 pages @ 600 x 150 dpi when printing at 5% coverage on A4 sized paper.
The Cyan ink cartridge yield is up to 300 pages @ 600 x 150 dpi when printing at 5% coverage on A4 sized paper.
The Black ink cartridge yield is up to 350 pages @ 600 x 150 dpi when printing at 5% coverage on A4 sized paper.

so it appears that what you are experiencing is not normal and you may have a leaking printer.

There is one thing you can check though, everytime you print, make sure that you are not printing at the highest quality option selectable as this almost certainly will fire out more ink than regular printing... choose a middle quality option or even draft option if you will be printing regular text.
