This is a great big ceiling fan the previous owners installed over a stairwell, I dropped the remote and broke it and the fan/light does not respond to the light switches.

There are lots of fans with remotes available for under $40.00. I don't think you can find a remote for $40.00

Try putting on rubber gloves and turn the globe clockwise. The globe has a very smooth surface and is impossible to turn with bare hands because you cant get a grip on it.

I have an Airworks ceiling fan/light with remote. Worked fine for years. Now battery is being drained very quick.. in a matter of a couple of weeks! Replaced battery but it drains in a couple of weeks

Stuck button, spill on remote causing power drain or most probably you got a batch of weak batteries. Try a different brand and make sure they are alakaline.

Need to program Hampton Bay Ceiling fan remote control CHO88T7030T, HELP!

Change the battery. This is the first step when troubleshooting a ceiling fan remote. The easiest fix to any remote control problem begins with battery replacement. A 9-volt battery is needed to operate all Hampton Bay ceiling fan remotes.

Check the light switch used for the ceiling fan. The light switch found on the wall must be in the "on" position. This allows the ceiling fan to be operated by remote control

Re-program your remote. If battery replacement fails to get your remote working again, try to reprogram the remote. Open the battery cover you will see 4 dip switches. These switches must be set to the same position as the receiver on the fan. Use the screw driver to move the dip switches either up or down.

Follow the previous step to change the frequency if the ceiling fan is randomly turning on or off. Other electronic devices such as garage door openers can interfere with the ceiling fans receiver, causing it to randomly turn on or off.

Take off the battery, open the back of your remote, lift the circuit board, clean the green painted part with cotton balls slightly damp with rubbing alcohol as well as the black thingy behind your remote pad, let it dry put it back together, replace with a new battery and try if it works.

How to wire a remote control ceiling fan, without using remote.

If you don't want the to use the remote you don't have to, but you don't have enough wires to switch the upper light, the lower light, and the fan. You can, however, switch the upper and lower lights together if that's okay. In order to do that you'd connect the white from the ceiling box to the white (neutral) on the fan, then the green from the ceiling box to any green(ground) wires on the fan, then the black from the ceiling box to the black(motor) from the fan, then the red from the ceiling box to the blue and orange (lights) from the fan. I'm assuming that the black and red in the ceiling box are also in the switch box where the fan/light control switch is going. Those are the ones you'll connect to the controller.

Sounds like the remote receiver units (located where the mains connect to the fans) took a surge and have failed.
