Question about Canon PIXMA iP2000

1 Answer

I have canon ip2000 printer, the screen shows error 5B00(The waste ink tank is full). the LED flashes, 1 Green(stable about 2 sec.), then orange/green, orange/green ..... 7 times(fast about 1/2 sec. each/interval) repeatedly , the printhead carriage will not move to the left whenever the cover/door open or not , you can move the carriage to the left manually but when you close the cover it will not move to the right side parking place, except you switch off and on the printer again, sometimes the carriage will move to the extreme right position, sometimes will move to the right position above 1/4 to1/2 inch from the right extreme position, which is correct ?, otherwise the printhead will dry up and clogged ?, I tried every method from the internet but failed, now the printer is not working at all, the LED keeping flashing as above, I hope the above statement is clear and understandable, if you have any questions please let me know, Thanks !. I am using mac 10.6.8 cannot use the ipTool ?. I have cleaned the narrow plastic belt(control the carriage moving and positioning) and removed the printer driver and download the latest canon driver but the problem still there. may be the problem is at the printer's computer, corrupted ? and then how to rectified it ?. Thank you again !. JJ

Hi,

In case you haven't tried this before, here is a tip that should reset the printer.
Copied from site: http://www.cyber-ink.com/member-canon.html
To Reset ip2000 / 3000
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not,
press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal..

Also note that if the carriage is not moving as it should, it has nothing to do with printer drivers or your computer. It is an internal function of the printer and no external connection (usb/ethernet) should affect its operations.

1 needs a new potential control sensor and pcb. this needs to be installed by a certified tech, However it can be the laser that needs replaced. The procedure isnt fun, this is a difficult problem to resolve.

2. this just needs a new thermistor sensor for the fixing unit. that part shouldnt cost more than 15 bucks. If fixing unit is worn past its life it should be replaced.
