The reciever sounds like the speakers are shorted out. I can hear the audio at about 3/4 but it is distorted and not load at all. Is there an internal fuse that may be shorted out? Thanks for any help

Just disconnect the cables, use a fresh set and validate the connections from the receiver to the speakers... This happens when it's cross connected or you have the speakers connected to the Sub connection. Just validate the connections from the user / connection manual that you should have received with the set

Sound very distorted, new motherboard and speakers fitted.

If the sound is distorted on all sources over both speakers then the speaker amp on motherboard is suspect. To eliminate bad laptop speaker possibility, try hooking up another audio source to the audio output of the laptop and hear what happens. If they also sound bad then the mo bo is definitely the culprit.

Marshall MB4410, with low volume gives no real volume,

Guitar amps have preamp sections (think unpowered audio mixer) and power amp sections (Crown rack-mount amp). An excellent way to isolate audio problems if amp is still producing audio is to check the preamp out (line out). Preamp output distorted = preamp failure. Connect MP3 player to "Power Amp In"...sound distorted = power amp failure. In your case the latter is the case as your "line out" is clean. Also test each speaker for clear sound as speaker cone damage from being overpowered is fairly common. At 300w. I'll assume the failure was not from cranking the volume to loud but a shorted speaker or speaker wiring could zap the power amp in an instant.

Choppy and distorted sound during gameplay with an optical cable

Check your pioneer unit settings, the ps3 settings are correct, and make sure you unplugged the audio cables. It sounds like a bad signal somewhere, which would cause the speakers to clip and distort. Make sure all of your surround sound speakers have a good connection if they have single wire runs to them and not a audio plug in them and there are not broken wires, or wires touching.

No sound driver

Turn the power off. Wait about 10 seconds, then power up again get close to the reciever and listen for a click-not from the speakers ,fromthe recievers itself. If you hear a click, you can assume that the power supply is ok for that cercuit. This does'nt eliminate the power supply, but it will do for now.Put the speakers close to the reciever, what you will do now is to power up the reciever while listening to the speakers with the volume off.In about 3-5 seconds you should a hear a slight click from the speakers. Try this with both speakers if you don't plug in a pair of headphones to the headphone jack and play the source . If you still no sound with headphones you at least now know that the output transistors are not the problem or the only problem. The power amp., section are defected also.Message whatever happens.

After a few moments my reciever stops working and displays F70 and says to turn off system

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: OVERHEATING.

EXAMINE VENTS ON UNIT FOR SIGNS OF LINT/DUST/ANIMAL HAIRS; EVEN IF NONE FOUND, IF YOU CAN BLOW OUT THE UNIT WITH COMPRESSED AIR (CAREFULLY) THAT COULD HELP. MAKE SURE THERE IS OPPORTUNITY FOR AIR CIRCULATION AROUND WHERE THE UNIT IS INSTALLED.

ALSO, MAKE SURE NO FRAYED SPEAKER WIRES OR ANY OPPORTUNITY THAT SOME ARE SHORTED. PUT YOUR EAR CLOSE TO EACH SPEAKER TO VERIFY THAT SOUND IS COMING OUT AND THAT IT'S NORMAL.

IF THE WIRES ARE OK BUT THERE IS ANY SPEAKER WITH A BUZZ OR ODD SOUNDS OR DISTORTION IT'S PROBABLY A FINAL AMP STAGE IN THE UNIT; THAT SPELLS REPAIR.

YOU CAN ALSO PUT AN OHMETER ON THE SPEAKERS IF YOU HAVE ONE; THEY ALL SHOULD BE ABOUT THE SAME, BUT TYPICALLY WITH A RANGE OF ABOUT 3-16 OHMS EACH.

IF YOU CONNECT ANY SMALL BATTERY, SUCH AS A DOUBLE A, TO THE SPEAKER WIRES AFTER DISCONNECTING FROM THE UNIT YOU SHOULD HEAR POPPING SOUNDS IN THEM. IF YOU DON'T, THE SPEAKER OR THE WIRE TO IT IS DEFECTIVE.

IF ALL THIS FAILS, YOU MAY BE LOOKING AT A LIVE TECH BENCH JOB

Distorted speaker sound

It might be that you have a bad solder joint somewhere. Try shaking the speaker when playing, but be careful not to short the speaker wire connections. If it returns to normal at any point this is a dry joint somewhere.
