I think its press fit, so put some flat steel behind both sides and try pulling. Be ready to replace the plastic bits cause the detergent is caustic.
Easier to quote your customer on new pump/motor assy.

I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher KDS18. How do I replace the TANK SEAL at the bottom of the door? Do I take the door off to replace it? Thanx

It's always best to remove a door to replace a seal. Lay the door on a hard flat surface so there isn't any twist in it. Remove the old seal and install the new one.

Dishwasher will not pump water out

Described in owners manual, there's access to pump impeller from within the dishwasher, impeller stalls when gunk accumulates in it.
There's 1 Philips screw to remove, then a plastic plate, and you will see the impeller.
I suspect that the impeller seal also causes the pump to sieze, but not completely sure of that.

Good Luck

Dishwasher will not pump water out

The impeller of the pump-out pump siezes OR the impeller siezes because the water seals inhibit it from turning.
Problem well described in Owners Manual.
Yo may need to empty with a bucket initially.
Under the filter plates, there's a plastic access cover to the impeller.
You need to remove 1 Philips Head screw, the cover lifts off, and you can see the impeller, it is about 25mm (1") in diameter.
Remove any foreign material in or around the impeller.
Spin the impeller by hand.... it sometimes feels a little resistant, as though the seals on its shaft are gripping it.... this is OK.
Reassemble and try it out.

Good Luck

These are cheesy, inexpensive dishwashers that are prone to leaky pumps, as shown here (click the pic for the larger, annotated view).

The problem is usually a leaky shaft seal kit, shown here as Items 7 and 8 (click the pic for the larger, annotated view).

Fortunately, the shaft seal kit is inexpensive; but it can be a ****** to install, depending on how much rust you’re dealing with. May require a destructive removal of the impeller, too, but ain’t no thang ‘cuz the shaft seal kit comes with a new impeller. Here’s a nice, purdy picture of a brand new shaft seal kit. And just to help motivate you a little more, the money you save from replacing just the shaft seal vs. replacing the entire motor-pump assembly is well over a Benjamin. So you go ahead and drill, cut, and chisel all you want on that old impeller!

Maytag dishwasher has a grinding sound during the

Hi

Many times a complaint of noises ( grinding or scraping ) can be traced to a cracked impeller in many of the common motor and pump assemblies used today. Sometimes a poor washing complaint is common after this wash impeller has cracked. Remove power first before investigating.

bc03dd0.jpg
The motor shaft has started to rust and swells out and this swelling cracks the upper impeller. Most times a new seal and impeller kit can cure this complaint but sanding and cleaning of motor shaft is required before replacing the new seals and impellers.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Dryer stops and won't start again

hi
Step 1: Remove the cap that holds the sprayer arm on.

Step 2: Remove the sprayer arm, the screen, the pump housing, a bolt, the upper impeller, the food disposer blade, a spacer plate, the impeller hood, a flat plate, an O-ring, and the lower impeller. Lay the parts out in order as you disassemble them so that you'll be able to reassemble them properly.

Step 3: Clean the parts thoroughly with a mild detergent solution. If any parts are worn, replace them with new ones made for the dishwasher.

Step 4: Replace any seals, such as the O-ring or other washers, with new ones.

Step 5: Reassemble the pump, keeping the parts in order.

To reach the water pump, remove the sprayer arm and screen and then the pump housing. Remove the bolt, and the pump components can be disassembled.

On some dishwashers, the lower impeller serves as a drain pump. This type of system usually has a reversible motor; machines with nonreversible motors have drain valves, as detailed previously. If your machine possesses this impeller pump system, and the water will not drain from the dishwasher, clean the lower pump impeller. This may solve the problem. Otherwise, call a professional service person.

Pump disassembly

I removed the impeller on my DW761UQB. The instructions were molded into the plastic pump housing. This is how I DID MINE: Remove motor mount screws. Remove the chopper screw (screw only goes into impeller, not motor shaft). Remove chopper and rotate/remove strainer. Place socket or wrench on impeller tip and place another wrench on rear of motor's plastic fan. Unscrew fan from impeller shaft ( threads are LEFT handed, turn CW). Once fan is 'backed off' of the impeller, CAREFULLY pry the motor/fan from pump housing (impeller is attached to motor shaft via splines). Don't crack the delicate plastic pump housing. Mine was stuck, but separated with moderate force. Now remove the impeller/seals from the pump housing. This worked for MY above mentioned model, I don't know what other models it applies to. I am not a pro.

Leak off pump housing

Sidewinder, sounds like it's leaking from the pump gasket or the water seal assy on the impeller. Check the locking ring to the pump housing and see if you can increse the pressure to the tub. Also check the tightness of the motor fan assy. to the impeller assy. tighten if necessary. Pump gasket part number is 912529. Impeller seal part number is 903494. Catriver..post back.
