Disconnect the wires to the cartridge. With the amp on. Touch each wire (one at a time) with your finger. Two of the wires should buzz (1 left, 1 right) if the left doesn't buzz either the connections are faulty or the pre-amp in your amp is.
If you get a buzz on the left, replace the cartridge.

Can anyone tell me if the Adcom 5503 three channel amp is common ground? I want to use it to power some old school polk SDA 1C as my mains and a CSi5 polk center. Thanks

no reason why not, 3 channel amps used to be the "state of the art" back in the early stereo days. the third channel was produced from the sum of the right and left channels, (the plus side of the right and the plus side of the left were sent to the center channel. produced what was considered at the time a true reproduction of the sound as it was intended to be. your lucky to have this old amp.

We have an old amplifier from back in the 80's and 90's. Its 500watts, the right channels (both main and sides) work fine and loud, but the left channels produce very low sound. I checked the fuse and its...

Have you checked the final transistors on that weak channel? They may look fine but may be weak. You can pull them and check them on your multimeter with the diode check and cross it with the data sheet for that transistor.

TX-SR603X Left channel Front & Surround not working in all modes. Issue follows the receiver when switching speakers. Mono only produces sound from the right side.

Sounds like the left channel front etc, transistors or whatever powers it have failed. They will be on a heat sink, you just need to identify them and replace them.

On my Mag Innovision model 700 P lcd monitor, the integrated right side speaker does not produce any sound. In XP control panel I do have both left & right speaker set to max.

On the plug to the computer sound card, is the plug completely inserted? The end of the jack is for Left channel and the right channel is only fed if the plug is fully inserted.

No sound out of left side speakers, front and back.

easiest way to see if the left outputs have gone is to swap the right and left speakers over. if the left works out of the right channels you know if the set has had it.hope this helps

You may have a bad stylus (needle), it can cause just that type of problem. Find a service center near you and see if they can get a replacement for you. They are very easy to replace, but very difficult to find.

Hope this helps.

Speaker problems

Hi, since the speakers themselves are ok, try checking the BABY PHONE PLUG that goes to the music/sound source. It is normally three (3) in 1 stud. The metal topmost would go to one channel, followed by a blak plastic ring then another metal band which goes to the other channel, followed by another black plastic ring and the final metal part which is the ground. With power on to the Z-5300, try touching the ends of the baby phone plug. Touching the top and 2nd metal part should produce a sound on either of the left or right. No sound (but spkrs good) it is possible that the left channel (front and rear) of the amplifier is dead. Hope this helps.Regrads.
