Question about Vehicle Parts & Accessories
I have a 2004 GMC 2500 Diesel Pickup, I have Owned it about A Year with no issues until now. It has a Python remote alarm and starter, that both had been working properly until now. Last week the probelm started. When you turn off the truck, take the key out of the ignition, and lock the doors - the radio, power windows, power mirrors, and dash lights all stay on, once in a while they all shut off when you remove the key and lock the doors, but then I come back to the vehicle hours later and they are all on again, before I even unlock the truck. I ended up pulling the windshield washer module in the fuse box under the hood, and with it removed the radio, lights, power windows all shut off when you remove the key, but the windsheild washers don't work or the Python remote starter, but the Python alarm still works. I was thinking that maybe the accessories that are staying on are possibly being back fed through the remote starter??????
Can you remove the python box without removing the wiring? That'd be a pretty definitive way of determining if the relays inside the python box are bad. On another note, this sounds like an ignition switch issue, the python box could just be coincidental.
Sorry, not much help... but see if you can eliminate the python box. That's the diagnostic process with electrical is to remove possible causes and record the results. Next, you might consider unplugging the wire harness from the ignition switch... or remove the wire harness that leads up the steering column.

If you have an alarm, or remote start with an alarm, you need to press and hold thethe valet button which would be hidden under the dash on the driver side, as you are turning the key sometimes remote starts have a starter disable or an alarm option to reset it that is what needs to be done, some systems even if you dont have an alarm go into a valet mode if your remote battery is old or you never reset it or the alarm kicked in or what have you. if this does not work for you then you will need to bring it to a dealership and have them do a total reset to the computer you can also try disconnecting the negative battery cable, but do this with the door open cause it will reset everything, and google the reset procedure for the key fob (remote).. do that reset for the remote and it should save you money from having to bring it to a shop or dealer.
hope this helps.
