Question about Whirlpool Electric Range
You will need to replace the "control board". Here is the part you need to order. Be sure to take note of where each plug wire goes. I use my cell phone to take a picture but you could draw it out just as well. Also, be sure to unplug the unit before doing any work on it!

It sounds like you have an oven problem rather than a start button problem. Is there an error code? If so list your model and error code on a search engine and you will find error codes. Or you can just list make model number and error codes and you can find a chart of Whirlpool error codes. I have done this with no problem. That should tell you the exact problem and things to try.
It may be neither issue you mentioned. It could be a bad element or a short.
