I'm trying to connect a DVR to my Yamaha HTR-4066 receiver, but it appears there's no signal coming from the AV-OUT ports.

You need to connect cables from your TV to the AV input ports on the receiver to get a signal out.

No sound from AV receiver, sound only from TV

What brand/model is the receiver. Some have a function where you can select if the audio is passed through to the tv, or output from the receiver's speaker jacks.

How to reset reciever

If you can't resolve the issue yourself, try resetting
the AV receiver before contacting your Onkyo dealer.
To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults,
turn it on and, while holding down the [VCR/DVR]
button, press the [ON/STANDBY] button. "Clear"
will appear on the display and the AV receiver will
enter Standby mode.

Is model AV-D75 compatable to AV-D50?

Compatable [sic] or comparable? Everything is compatible to some degree, but one doesn't often link AV receivers to each other.

The AV-D75, according to what little I could find, is a circa 2000 unit that does NOT some things the AV-D50 does have:

BBE processing
Super T-Bass
Graphic Equalizer
5.1 analog inputs
Numerous DSP modes
