Question about Bernina Artista 170

Open Question

I have a Bernina Artista 180 with embroidery module. I can send a design to the machine with no problem, is goes over in seconds. But once I select the design for stitching out, the Artista is taking a really long time to prepare the design. It used to only take a minute or so, but no it is taking up to 5 minutes. I checked the memory useage and I am right at 13 % (I have only two designs stored on the memory. Does anyone know why this is happening now and is the a way to fix it?

SOURCE: DOES THE BERNINA BERNETTE DECO 600 ACCEPT .ART

Not sure if you found anything out, but Deco 600 uses PES format only.
If you have the software (Deco Wizard) sometimes you can change it to PES and save the design.
Good luck

SOURCE: bernina artista 180 keeps warning to check top thread

Refer to your manual for maintenance and clean the machine as indicated. A sensor may be blocked by lint.

If this continues, the machine will need to be serviced by an authorized Bernina repair tech.

SOURCE: when stitching the design the upper thread keeps

The tension is not properly set for embroidery, try to rethread totally new. Sometimes it is also caused by broken thread inside the machine, you can open it with the supplied L-shaped tool on the left side of the machine where the lamp is located and than take it out with a tweezer.

I have a Bernina Artista 180 with embroidery module. I put in the plug in the wrong direction once and now it will not connect the module to the sewing machine. Can this be fixed?

It is very likely that when you attempted to connect the embroidery unit with the plug out of alignment that you would have bent some of the pins on the male side of the plug. It is possible, though not advisable, to straighten the pins in this pug. However, if not done perfectly, this could cause further damage to both the male and female sides of the plug. I would recommend taking it in to a local BERNINA dealer and repair center to have that cable replaced just to be safe.

With embroidery card inserted into module, no motifs appear on the display screen.

Here are two other possibilities other than electrical problems with your Bernina. There are embroidery design cards that were made for the 200 & 730 that simply do not work in a 180. There is nothing marked on the card or the packaging that will tell you what model machine the card will work in. I sold a bunch of my design cards on eBay last winter and I tested all of them in both a 730 and a 180 before making the ad discription. I found that most of the design cards worked in the 180 & 730, but there were a few that only worked in the 730. So if your design card is one of those that won't work in a 180, that could be your problem.
You did not say if you have other design cards that do work or there is only one you tried. Possibly the card itself is bad.
A static shock to the card could possibly damage it.
So if you take your machine to a dealer to have it looked at, take your design card along.
The 180's memory for storing designs is located in the embroidery module, not the machine itself. If that memory is filled up with other designs this can cause a problem.
So your problem is most likely with the design card or with the embroidery module. Should you need to get another embroidery module, that module needs to be the same version number as your machine or it will not work. I have a. video posted on YouTube that shows you how to check the version number of your machine and module. That information is in my "Bernina check hours 165, 170, 180, 185" video. Put that in the YouTube search box and you will find my video. Plus I have other helpful Bernina videos posted.

Lost dongle bernina 180 artista version 3

Unfortunately, your dongle is like a Key that is made just for your machine. You could try contacting Bernina or the place where you bought the machine originally and ask if they can send you a replacement. I've afraid it will be very expensive though.

Good luck.

If you have the machine connected to the computer you can delete the embroidery from your machine, Artlink software is for this machine to write designs or read designs from your machine.

Embroidery

If you doing an embroidery, it has to have something to do with the way the design was digitized. We have a BERNINA ARTISTA 180 and have never come across this problem. The embroidery machine only reads what is on the disk. Try putting your design through the computer.
