SOURCE: singer 2662 winds bobbin only half full.

there is an adjustment on the bobbin winder. Just bend the little spring flap that rides inside the bobbin while winding. Bend it up a little. The flap being pushed up is what releases the shut off

I have a singer 7466 and the bobbin won't load error code 88. please help!

An 88 error code is a generic one. It could mean that the needle isn't moving properly when the machine is turned on, there could be a problem at the bobbin or the computer for the machine is compromised. When did the error occur (regular sewing or bobbin winding)?

First, make sure that the needle is at the highest point with the hand wheel. Turn the machine off and then back on. Does the needle move to the side and back to the center? If so, then the problem is elsewhere. If the needle didn't move, I'd still recommend that you clean the area under the bobbin case.

If you were winding a bobbin, try a different bobbin. Check for any burs that might block smooth rotation of the bobbin. If you were doing regular sewing, also try a new bobbin. Check the bobbin case and hook areas for lint and clean them out.

If the error still persists, the machine needs to be serviced.

I hope this helps.

Model no. 7468 when winding bobbin, machine stops and flashes code 88. why is it doing this

Check the troubleshooting section of your owner's manual. Usually, it will have a list of more common error codes.

You can also search for the

make + model + "error code 88"

or contact the manufacturer.

I am trying to wind on a bobbin and keep getting an error message of E9 which says in the manual When Motor is locked it will not allow me to wind bobbin

The machine you're talking about isn't indicated. However, when the motor is locked it is trying to run the needle and feed dogs at the same time that it is trying to wind the bobbin. This cannot be done simultaneously.
*** The place where you place the bobbin must be set firmly against the bobbin.
***Some newer digital systems still need the hand wheel to be released by hand. (Turn it, push or pull it)

Code 88 starts flashing as well as all the stitching lights on the panel when I try to thread the bobbin. I can sew, that is NOT the problem, threading the bobbin is. What is Code 88? I am not interested...

Turn your machine off and leave it off. Remove all bobbins - in the machine & from the pin. Remove all thread - from threaded machine and bobbin thread path. Clip the machine thread at the spool and pull the needle thread towards yourself. Clip bobbin thread at spool and close to bobbin, then pull towards you through thread guides. This keeps the tension where it belongs. Move the bobbin winding shaft from normal sewing back to winding bobbin a couple times. It should click in place when moved to the winding position. Check to see if there is any thread that has slipped under the bottom of the bobbin and wound itself around & under the bottom of the shaft. Carefully unwind to clear. If the shaft does not easily move back to the sewing position it is probably stuck in the winding position. Don't force it, but try to get it out of the winding position. Leave it to the left in the normal sewing position (unclicked). Check to see if there is any thread caught anywhere along the path from spool to the winding pin. Pay close attention to the first thread guide and the two discs the thread slips between that control tension. Hand wind the wheel on the right towards you to raise and lower the needle a couple of times. Stop with needle in highest position. Do NOT wind hand wheel backwards (away from you). Make sure the bobbin pin is not in the winding position. Now turn on your machine. Needle should jump to default position. Move the stitch length and stitch width guides to the far right, then far left, to attain the green lights. Press the reverse stitch button to raise lower and raise the needle. It will stop in the highest position. If you still have the error code - make sure the bobbin winding pin is NOT in the winding position. Remove the needle. Lower the presser foot and run the machine without any thread a bit. If the needle bar does not go up and down most likely the bobbin pin is stuck in the winding position. If the code has cleared use your manual to carefully wind a new bobbin. Make sure you are using a 15J bobbin which this machine requires. It will not work with just any bobbin. Next, raise the presser foot then carefully thread the machine. If you don't have a manual you can download one from the Singer website. You might consider cleaning the entire machine paying special attention to the hook area and feed dogs while the power is off. If you find a lot of lint do this more frequently to prevent buildup. Take special care when replacing the bobbin care. Hope this helps. If not call Singer. It may take some time but you should be able to reach someone to help you troubleshoot. If this is an older machine I recommend taking it for repair yourself instead of sending to Singer

Singer CE250 error 88 winding bobbin

I couldn't find an explanation for error 88, but it SOUNDS to me like it's complaining because the needle isn't all the way up. Those models (had one) are VERY sensitive to that issue. As to breaking threads, that sounds like you have something in the tension disks at the top of the machine. The clear cover can be removed with one screw; remove it and gently "floss" with UNWAXED dental floss or hand embroidery floss between the disks. The presser foot MUST be UP at the time; that's the only time the disks are spread, and the reason you must ALWAYS thread your machine with the presser foot up. Most experienced users put the thread in a jar at the back of the machine away from the hoop area and thread from there, rather than the posts on the machine. Also, if you're using regular thread, make sure the notch to hold the loose end of the thread when not in use is not facing towards the thread path; it can catch in the spool and cause shredding and breakage as well as needle breakage.

You can also purchase a separate bobbin winder for under $25 at WalMart online, and frankly, I think it does a better job anyway.

Just a heads up; the cover over the tension disks snaps in place when you put it back on, but you may have to fool with it--don't panic! It WILL snap back into place, when you get it into position just right!

I can't thread my bobbin. I get a error on the number guide and it is 88. so what is wrong with it not working.

Do you have a manul for your machine?
you can download it from here http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/467_7466_efs.pdf

I can't see anything relating to error message 88 in the manual.

So I would suggest you start by trouble shooting the bobbin case, go to page 76 in manual and folloing images, take out bobbin case, clean and replace it. Turn machine off first and once its back in turn it on and see if the 88 code has reset.

Then redo bobbin winding, and threading up. Start with the manual instructions on this page 18 and 20 and work through it step by step. Make sure bobbin is in the right way so thread is feeding off in the right direction. Also just a thought, you haven't got a stray bobbin in there that isn't a Singer one??

I hope that this helps you to eliminate your machine problem, obviously if this doesn't solve it you may need to take it for a service and see if the 88 display relates to something within the machine circuitry.

Bobbin Winding message appears when machine is turned on

Is the bobbin winder holder clicked over to the right like you are trying to wind a bobbin? If so, and you are not trying to wind a new bobbin, click it over to the left.
