Replacing the keypad ribbon

I am almost there to replace the keypad ribbon. I just need to know how to get the small connector out of the flip side. It looks as if I might have to separate the two sides. Any help will surely be appreciated.

My p990i phone the fip is broken and it is remained as if the flip is closed and i cannot use the other can i flip open if the flip is broken.....

You need to dismantle the back panel and unscrewing 6 screw using a T6 precision screw driver to be able to release the front panel, but be careful cause the keypad flex connector is attach on the board interface and be careful cause touchscreen and LCD is also connected. On the upper panel, remove the keypad panel by inserting a flat screw driver on each side at the bottom of the front panel.if done, remove the adhesive at the back of the keypad interface and you will see the keypad flex connector,if the parts is still ok,gently remove the flex cause it is fitted by a strong adhesive.the you can replace or if not put an adhesive on a broken part.

good luck....

How to replace ribbon on nokia 6085 my phone works but screen is blank!

Well, you need to remove the hinges that are in the middle where you flip the phone. The correct method would be: 1. Open the top panel (One covering the small blue LCD) 2. Remove the screws connecting the chip. 3. Remove the chip by removing the connector. 4. Open the battery cover. 5. Remove the plastic guard that's above the battery cover - you can do this by hand. 6. Remove the 4 screws here. 7. Remove the back cover and the chip. 8. Remove the connector connecting the chip. 9. Carefully press the hinge on the left side through a small hole in the side with a thin strong device. Now you should see a pin slide out towards the middle of the phone. Hold this pin in place with a screwdriver - if you don't, it'll slide back into place. 10. Pull out the top panel now. 11. You should easily be able to remove the ribbon connector. Work backwards to fix it all back :) Hope you fix it :)

My sony ericsson w595 turns off when i flip open it

Hi,the problem you are experiencing with your phone is as a result of a weak flex connector has to be replaced, here's a detailed solution on how to replace the cable. STEP 1. Tools required: Phillips screwdriver, plastic tool such as a guitar plectrum or credit card.
  • Remove your back cover, battery, sim and memory card.
STEP 2. Run something like a credit card under the metal plate at the top of the phone. It is stuck down tight with double sided tape but it will come away with a little force.
  • Starting near the top of the phone, run your credit card along the join of the front cover. When you have released the cover as much as shown below, slide the cover down to remove it (clips hold the cover on at the bottom which will be bent if you don't slide the cover off).
STEP 4 You should now have the front cover removed. Remove the small screw you can see. STEP 5
  • With the slide open halfway, lift the up the part you've just removed the screw from to reveal three ribbon connectors. Each connector has a black latch which you need to flick over the release the ribbon
  • STEP 6
  • You now have the LCD screen removed. You don't need to go any further if you only want to replace the LCD.
  • STEP 7
  • Remove the speaker and connecting ribbon etc. It's just stuck down lightly. Remove the two screws you can see at the top of the phone.
  • STEP 8
  • You now need to lift the keypad up. It's stuck down lightly with double sided tape. Remove the two screws you can see.
  • STEP 9
  • Run your credit card around the join of the grey part of the phone to release a number of clips. Turn the phone over and release a few more clips in the battery compartment.
  • STEP 10
  • Your phone should now look like below. Two small bezels (shown in the picture) will pop off when you remove the back part of the phone. Now remove the two silver screws you can see.
  • STEP 11
  • You can now remove the battery compartment. A ribbon is stuck to the side of this and will peel away quite easily. Remove the two screws you can see.
  • STEP 12
  • The circuit board will now be loose but still connected by a ribbon. Again, flick the black latch over to release the ribbon.
  • STEP 13
  • Disassembly is complete. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.

Dust behind clear screen over main screen, SGH-A707

If you are not good at repairing small electronics (taking apart and putting back together) then get a pro to do it. I found out the hard way that trying to pry off the cover around the display (with the tools that came with my replacement LCD for my samsung a737 ) is the wrong way.

Under the battery are two very small screws that come out. Remove these first, they should be very short and have a very wide and flat head.

Then with the phone closed pry up the bottom the of the top slider and then push the slider top down (some what hard to pry and slide). You only need to move it about 1mm then you should be able to lift the whole top off. This is the hardest part of the job.

Then disconnect the the ribbon cable by flipping up the little gard along the top of the ribbon at the connector. This guard rotates to a 90degree angle straight up. Be carefull to not rip appart the flip connector. then slide the ribbon out.

Then flip the top over and remove the now exposed screws on the top along the edges.
and now you should be able to figure everything else. Three more ribbon connectors to the display to finally remove.

To put back together again just do the same in reverse.

I charge $30 plus shipping to do this for you. Plus the cost of the screen if you don't have a new one to ship and use.

Looking towards the future with you,

How to repair broken hinge of my Verizon LG Vx8350

I was able to take apart a VX8350 I have with a broken screen. I don't see any way to replace just the hinges with replacing the whole top part of the phone including the screen. The ribbon cable from the screen runs through the hinge part into the main assembly of the phone. It appears the cable can't be removed without cutting it.

Samsung D900i LCD Replacement

Hi.An update on replacing pesky D900I craked screen. My last post was accurate up to taking out the camera and speaker.Leave them be.
There are two ribbon cables to unplug from the keypad below the screen; You have to be v.carefull.There is a tiny flip-up hinge that must be released on each.I used a tiny screwdriver to open them.Tease the ribbon connectors out.Now the screen can be removed, however they stick em in;around the perimeter underneath where you cant see it.One has to pry up an edge near a corner whilst bending the plastic a frame a little,(I used plastic picnic knives, finger nails etc),but it will come out with care.In my case it has to;11 year old kid saved up for it!Dammed if samsung were going to beat me.Recommend reverse the procedure with a new screen from ebay;est £30.,then sell it and buy something robust. Can supply more info if you can be bothered with it all.Bye
