    What video-card do you have?

Was a CD-ROM of "drivers" supplied with the video-card?

    Have you used that CD?

You need to load a better "driver" into Windows, to get 16 or 24 or 32 bit support. So, use the CD-ROM, or try http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

and look for any "optional hardware" updates.

Install your motherboard Driver(video driver). Especially if this is on board video. Or install the driver if this is an add on video card.

Which Nikon S.L.R. cameras can I use my 70/300mm AF-S Nikor and still maintain auto focus, it is currently on a D40x

Every one (assuming the camera supports autofocus in the first place, of course--old film Nikons didn't). The lens has an autofocus motor, so the camera doesn't need one.

Film Nikons supported autofocus starting with the N2000. (Actually, the F3 also had autofocus capabilities, but used a different system). All the digitals support autofocus.

Dell E177FPB monitor has ghost images "bleeding"

I had dual monitor with color bleed to the right. The solution was
1) identify optimal resolution for both monitors ( Dell 198wfp @ 1400 x 900) and (Laptop @ 1200 x 800) 2) check colour setting (32 bit or 16 bit) 3) reduce colour setting down to 16 bit) 4) Check performance 5) reduce screen resolution 6) check 7) cycle between screen color and screen resolution 8) if no luck, check updating the drivers for graphic card 9) if no luck, check updating monitor drivers 10) if no luck, check altering memory set aside for graphics (onboard memory for example or off-graphics-chip-on-RAM-memory) 11) Monitor checking software is very helpful : try "http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?id=22" for the Nokia Monitor Test (a CRT tester) or any other freeware/shareware testing program such as passmark's products etc.,
You might just have to suffer with a large workspace and mungy grapics performance though ... I am.

When i try to change the screen resolution it is locked and it wont move at it is stuck at 640x480 how can fix it.

Check for drivers from the manufacturers website or on a CD/DVD that came with the computer. It sounds like it does not have the correct video display drivers installed.

The screen resolution will not change. One some computers this happens on, it is stuck at 800x600. Others, 640x480. Some are even stuck at 1024x768. The slider is movable and shows all available...

Seems to be a common problem: Here's one possible solution: http://ask.metafilter.com/76449/Dell-notebook-Vista-and-Screen-Resolution

I recommend you search the Dell forums, as they are likely to have received the most complaints and if there is a workaround someone will have posted it there....

Pentax *ist DS digital SLR Autofocus problem

Being an SLR camera, you should try another lens. It may be a servo fault in the lens. If the lens is okay, then it can be anything in the lens sensing, lens control drive circuits, and or lens to camera interface area. This would have to be properly diagnosed and serviced.

Try going into safe mode and remove the video driver.
To go to safe mode you will need to press the F8 key.
Step one = turn the pwr on and press the F8 about 8 times
Step 2 = select safe mode

Can't switch to autofocus.

The autofocus motor is probably worn-out -- a common problem. Most shops can rebuild the brushes in the motor, since parts are no longer available from Minolta.
