Input fuse blows on switch on

In most power supplies, if the input fuse blows that fast it's because of some shorted component right at the AC input. Check for shorted rectifier diodes and filter capacitors. Both are common failures, especially if the equipment has been subjected to power line surges. If the power supply checks out OK, shorted output devices in the amplifier section is the next most likely cause. Check for low resistance on the outputs of the power supply. It's helpful to have a schematic diagram of the receiver for troubleshooting, and you can often service manuals or other information free or at reasonable prices on the Internet.

No or little ac output

By ac you mean receptacles, not ac welding?
If so what about welding output on AC (DC)?

If welding is OK then you may have breaker or fuse problem.
If welding output is also low or no output your problem is the generator.
You should check your gen rpm to be normal. If so you may have field problem: rectifier, AVR etc.
If you can measure the field DC voltage at rated rpm, if it is missing (very low) try to find any circuit broken.
If you do not succeed answer this instruction in order to give you more.

I just bought a 98 concorde lxi and no sound coming out of the speakers, radio comes on and shows channels just no sounds

Hello georgouseyes,

The problem could be in the output from your receiver to the amp or in the amp itself.

First check to see if the amp powers up. If it doesn't, check the main power fuse (usually located under the hood near the battery). Also check the power and ground connections on both ends.

If the main fuse checks OK, check both onboard fuses. There's 2 35A fuses on the far right.

If the amp powers up OK and the onboard fuses are not defective, it's possibly the output from your receiver or line output converter. Replace the RCA cables with a known good pair. If there's still no sound, I'd suspect that the amp itself is defective.

Hope this helps.

AMP POWERS UP, I CAN HEAR IT WORKING BUT THE SOUND IS REALLY REALLY LOW...

Hello korre,

Low output could be the head unit, the speakers of the amp itself. Start by isolating the problem.

1) Test the sub(s) on a known good output.
2) Input a known good signal. A portable with RCA preamp outs will work OK.
After you have eliminated the other components, troubleshoot the amp itself:

1) Check the onboard fuses. The M605 has 2 each 30A fuses just to the left of the power and ground terminals.
2) If it was just installed, then my first suspicion would be a problem in wiring. If one tiny little strand of your speaker wires comes into contact with another wire or ground point, it could present just enough of a signal path to ground out most of your power, and perhaps still allow the amp to seemingly operate normally (at least for awhile). Check power and ground too.
3) Make sure your head unit RCA's are plugged into the inputs and not the outputs.
4) Check the low-pass and subsonic filter settings. If low pass is turned all the way down, the amplifier would ONLY send frequencies below 30Hz to the speakers. Subsonic turned on and the low pass all the way down would effectively result in no sound.
5) Remove the top cover to access the mode controls and display. Check the input level.

If everything checks out, the amp probably has a defective component and needs factory/service center repair.

Hope this helps.
